So rallye hasn't been started on two weeks,
I go to start it after putting the exhaust back on and doing various work to it.
First turn it starts, no revs counter though... Sounds like it's idling at 2k
Turned it off
Tried again exact same, so I turned it off. Took battery off for half hour, connected again,
Turned the key no rev gauge idling at 2k but revs this time incline so turned it off
Tried again, gave it some throttle and the car idle began getting higher again.
So I've switched it off removed the battery and set fire to it
I joke, no fire. Yet.

Sounds like your idle control valve is f*cked

But doesn't explain the lack of Rev gauge?

If the Idle control valve Ok, may be an air leak.

Will be pulling the idle control valve off tomorrow. Its got to be something linked though IMO, it's too much of a coincidence that I have a problem with the Rev gauge and the idle at the same time

Rev counter wise - check the connections in the back of the clocks

They haven't been disturbed either but I'll check them tomorrow. The only thing that I've change since it was last started is a wishbone :/

Battery terminals are tight asf which earths should I check and where can I find them, found one behind drivers side light, drivers foot well. Is there one on the gearbox? As I'm sure the wiring down there is a little loose

Top front of the gearbox, near battery box. The negative cable goes directly there from the battery.

It's bloody pissing it down, and can't even see the earth, trying to trace back but there is pipes led across it. I've got to go into town so hopefully this rain will piss off when I'm back and I can take a proper look at it

Gearbox earth is now solid, and still high idle
There is white smoke coming out but guess that's from not being started in a few weeks
Would a sticky icv cause the high idle, and would unplugging it cause anything?

If the ICV stuck, It can be low idle rpm or high idle rpm.
Have you already check that there was no any air leak ? (Eg. vacuum hose came off, Acc cable stuck)

No Hoses have been touch between starting.
Which hoses should I check, I've looked at the pipe that comes of the icv and it looks okay. Going to take the icv off tonight and give it a clean. It worked fine before hand don't understand why it would suddenly die
Acc cable I think is fine, as I can still Rev the car as freely as it did before. I'll double check though and see if it settles back where it's meant to

Unplugging the ICV should cause the car to die as it won't be able to figure out timing. They certainly don't run if the ICV is unplugged, not that I've ever forgotten before...

Well I unplugged the icv, and it made absolutely no difference. Still ran, ran normal until I blipped the throttle and then it started high idleing
Any chance this would be thrown up on Peugeot planet?

Fixed!
Just for future reference for anyone!
Fuel pump continues priming, no Rev gauge, and high idle
It's your fuel pump relay.
Had a quick Google and search of gti6 forum and it threw up this thread http://www.306gti6.com/forum/showthread.php?id=65659
Exact same problems as mine, didn't mention the fuel pump prime before as didn't think it was linked
But now it's all sorted. Trip to pug and it cost me £30 with discount.
(They are normally £40 + vat )
I'm happy again
