To remove the inlet manifold: chronic, and i mean Chronic, ballache. To remove the inlet elbow is pretty easy though, if that's what you mean.

I would describe it as a complete ballbag. TBH if you can feel air blowing when rev t engine get some soapy water and spray the joints etc... Bubbles = leaks.

Its the hole manifold, wanted to put new gaskets on,
I will try soapy water and might try to tighten the bolts i can get to. When i reach down the rear of the engine there is oil everywhere.

I want to remove mine to give it a clean. There was a fair amount of oily gunk in there when i changed the elbow gasket

Its held on by the exhaust manifold, so that has to come off first. Its beyond a ballache.

Better with the engine out mate. You would need some long spanners if you tried from underneath and from the top you would need wafer thin arms and hands. Pig of a job!

i tried to tighten the bolts but there a . would i have any luck with taking the mount off and pulling the engine forward?
and does the exhaust manifold have to fully come off or can i just loosen the bolts and slide it out? as from pictures i saw the bottom hole is a slidey hole,

That would give you a bit more room but exhaust manifold is the bitch of this, plus EGR pipes get in the way, you would have to clear some room up for it all

Its possible if you remove the top engine mount and just slacken off the top exhaust mani bolts, but rather you than me

EGR would be easier removed if the engine was out too.... So you currently have all the EGR and shit still on, you welding plates to block top and bottom of EGR system? Engine out is your best bet... Unless someone else can offer you some advice further to this. Good luck mate, let us know how you get on Stage 1 HDi DTurbo Diablo 5dr, "Dee-Dee"

Yeah, as everyone keeps saying; it's a lot easier with the engine out.

peugeot cant get it till next week if that,
no way am i taking the engine out i would rather struggle once i get the inlet off i should be able to take the exhaust manifold bolts out so i can put the gasket in. (thats the plan in my head) (01-05-2015, 12:54 PM)highwayman306 Wrote:(01-05-2015, 12:47 PM)HDi--Power Wrote: Its possible if you remove the top engine mount and just slacken off the top exhaust mani bolts, but rather you than me i will make some plates up and take it all off. i will try and take some pictures and put a guide up as i cant find one anywhere,

Bashed knuckle territory this is, do you have leather hands Tyson

Don't just loosen the exhaust mani and retighten it, the gasket won't work properly the second time and you'll end up with leaks there as well.
Taking the engine out is easy compared to trying to remove any of that lot in situ!
Take the engine out and do manifolds/gaskets/belts/pulleys etc all in one go
That's my plan.. Eventually lol

Tyson, do you have access to a winch? Is that the issue? Because just looked over my engine to double check and I can confirm, there is not enough space mate. Someone myt help you out if they live close by

i have a hoist and car lift, but taking the engine out isnt going to happen. im nearly certain i can get it off without taking engine out,
My Plan take engine mount off pull engine forward take inlet elbow off take the top bolts out of inlet manifold loosen nuts on exhaust manifold pull inlet manifold out remove the exhaust manifold studs remove gasket and then all that backwards. should work
01-05-2015, 03:59 PM
Sounds like you want to make it difficult lol, each to their own.
01-05-2015, 04:02 PM
If you have a hoist and car lift, why not remove the engine?
01-05-2015, 04:07 PM
You can have the engine in and out in a day it really is easy. I say remove it do all the stuff the put it back in. I can get an xud out in under 2 hours
On a break from 306oc for personal reasons. If anyone needs or wants me most of you have my number and or facebook messenger

If your going to attempt it you will have to remove the turbo support bracket and exhaust. This should allow to Mani/turbo to be moved backwards enough on the studs to gain access to the inlet bolts.
Have you proven its leaking from there yet?
09-05-2015, 01:06 PM
its done and back together
not leaking any more and sounds alot quieter it can be done with engine in and just pulled forward but its abit of a |
