Standard Replacement Turbo
#1
Would this fit onto a Standard GT15 end part (the one that fits onto the exhuast manifold)?

That's an awful lot of money to waste on a 306 HDi! Confused

You could buy 5 used turbo's and just swap them as and when and still not spend that much. lol

It is a lot
But its £75 each time for my mechanic to get them swapped
Might just look out for a lowish mileage turbo to be honest

Have you done a HDi turbo Piggy? Theres no access lol, quicker and easier to pull the engine out.

That said, I can't imagine your turbo is knackered Matt, more likely that after going to the effort of removing it, your mechanic has had to 'find' something wrong with it. lol

As said in another thread the bearings have gone, will take it to a proper turbo place for them to look at it
As you say Tom not the easiest job to change the turbo, especially for a begginer like me!

Its easy to change, only bolts and a couple of hose clips lol. The problem is the access. Though looks like Piggy is offering. Wink

Might be cheaper to have the bearings changed if it's already off? I don't know how much that'd cost though.

A rebuild would probably cost just as much tbh, that's not a bad price for a remanufactured turbo.

I have considered an FMIC and Map (Stage 2 Limited Torque), lowering engine parts life even more vs a Stage 1
Would cost quite a bit to get a GT17 to fit on though, wouldnt be going full torque
Currently happy with a normal Stage 1 due to having the Rallye for Bwarps :p

Would it bolt up the exact same as a standard GT15? Which cars do the GT15 VNT's come from? Worth it for an extra few bhp?

Do some research fella... Just would hate to see you dump £275 in ya hdi for no real benefit when that could go towards a strong stg2 hdi

That's the thing, not really wanting to dump that much into it on a standard GT15 so will most likely be getting mine repaired or a 2nd hand one, VNT's sound like too much of a faff for not much gain at a Stage 1/Stage 1+
