"We dont know whats wrong with this, lets change the fuel pump, nope thats not fixed it, lets change the injectors, nope, thats not fixed it either. Right, lets tell the customer there are problems with the ecu, that will give us time to change some more parts and try and figure out whats wrong, ohh thats it, its the FPR, just swap that out a minute, bill for an ecu to, job done. Excellent."

Um, probably not what you want to hear, but a blocked fuel filter can cause these issues...

Lol these people are getting weirder by the minute, they claimed the car wouldnt run with her ecu after they change hp pump, so they took her ecu off and put a 406 one on, so it could run and they gave the car back to her, they kept her ecu to do something to, and they are apparently putting it back in her car today, but the biggy is that she claims the car feels no slower with this ecu :/

doesn't the 406 have an IC? and wouldn't they of needed to swap the BSI as well (along with the key). If its a 406 BSI a) would it plug in? and b) does all the electrics inside work ok?
Not picking it apart, just interested what's happened.
As long as its running its removed the scrap value from the car....get in touch with pro steve and map her up.

Maybe they fried the original ECU somehow and are trying to fix it so they don't have to pay for a new one. The 406 ECU would have to be unlocked to work on the 306 but if they're a PSA garage they probably have one spare just in case anything happens....
Does all seem a bit odd though!

Um yeah, 406 ecu swapped right over, i'm sure they wrote out the wg control so it didn't show the eml. And disabled all the immobiliser stuff, of course. Riiiiiigght...
Can anyone else smell that? Pigs maybe..? Or is it sheep...? Ah, no, that's it, bullshit!

Sorry, that wasn't aimed at you at all, apologies if it came across like that. I was calling bullshit at the garage.
I'm just sick of seeing people taken for a ride by unscrupulous traders. They're relying on your lack of in-depth knowledge and feeding you complete nonsense to hide the fact they're charging you for stuff they don't need to, all because they don't know what the problem is. I mean what kind of garage keeps a spare, unlocked, converted ecu around just in case they get a car come in with a dead ecu - which incidentally is about a 1 in 5000 chance - so they can lend it out to customers so they get their car back for one day...? No business works like that, it's not feasible or prudent and it doesn't make business sense. Also, if they had to send it off to be fixed it would have taken at least 3 days to send to the specialist, be fixed, get returned and get refitted, but it only took them one day, so can't be that. So they must be fixing it on site, but then why are they f*cking about fitting another ecu when they could spend the same amount of time fixing your current one and have it back together the same day? None of it adds up, they're taking the piss, simple as. Severely angry on your behalf.

He could've copied the map in 5 minutes with a Galletto without removing the ECU if that was the case though lol.
Whatever has been done does seem odd lol. How much did it all cost in the end then?

Most garages have a good name because they talk nicely to customers, convince them the garage is on their side and know what they can get away with. Even when they do a bad job and take the piss, as often as not people will still talk about them in a positive manner because the chap at the front desk was nice and people don't like to be told they've been ripped off...
