Hi everyone
as per title really, when cold in the morning, fine to start, but when she fires up theres a fair bit of blue smoke for a couple seconds and also it sounds like shes running slightly lumpy.
After a few minutes its fine, the smoke goes, also runs smoother. No problems when warm, and no smoke when driving.
Cheers, Andy

I get this too. May be your glow plugs. Or maybe injectors...
Ive recently had new glow plugs, changed fuel filter too. So im guessing its injectors from all that veg I ran lol

Could just be glowplugs. Might of only done 40k miles but it might not have been properly care for in that time.

If your not tuned and not doing mega miles once a year is fine. But most here are tuned so we seem to vary. I service mine every 6000 miles usually before.

Had this EXACT same problem on my DW8, after going through the basics (glow plugs, injector test etc.), found it was valve clearances closed up. Now starts like new.
I think they are meant to be checked every so often, but was never part of the service on mine. Even a peugeot main dealer missed this and failed to fix.

Ok wouldnt personally know where to start with valve clearances myself, so i think after a service and maybe plugs this will be my next port of call
Cheers

Be wary of that, my mate paid out a fair bit to have the valves re done........... and it didn't stop it from doing it

They can be checked quite easily. It's actually doing the job that's apparently a bit of a pain. I my case an exhaust valve wasn't closing, so it was a pretty sure bet that was the problem.

Change the glow plugs Andy, will most likely fix 90% of the issues, if you buy a set ill whip them in when im doing the pump, changing to bosch pump will also most likely help alot.

If it was glow plugs wouldn't it run smooth quicker than "a few minutes"? I can start mine without any glow and it will run smooth in a few seconds.

yeh it will, its most likely just retarded timing from worn pump etc, lucas pumps are never the best from cold, lower break pressures, less static timing, etc.
