Pro's: it'll keep the engine really really cool so it will rarely overheat
Cons: The oil won't go up to it's proper temperature which means thicker crap moving round the engine causing potential issues. I Black mask Crystal headlights, check out my Thread

also lower efficiency...so lower power and mpgs
plus the cabin heaters will be unlikely to get properly warm Wishes for more power...

Before we start if your stat isn't working properly replace it. A New one for an XU10 direct from pug retails at £18.04 so not even expensive to replace especially with a discount or a pattern part. Easy job to replace too, just a few bolts and some coolant.
Pros - Erm, none if your stat is working properly. Cons - Never get hot heaters Reduced power Reduced mpg Higher emissiions Oil temp will never get hot so wont burn off its contaminants Oil pump has to work harder to pump thick cold oil Less effective engine lubrication so more chance of premature engine wear

You'll never get it to seal without a thermostat.
The thermostat provides the seal that seals up the cover that the top rad pipe clamps to. |
