ok from what i can tell and seen so far there shouldnt be to much of a problem with this but just to ask anyone see a problem with using a XUD7 bottom end i.e crank ect and then using an XUD9 block and pistons? of course theres gonna be some difference in ratios but other than that?
thanks ash

Theoretically there's no difference, the stroke is the same on an XUD7 as an XUD9, just the bore thats different... So basically the 9 block and pistons have to go together, I don't think you can use an xud9 head on an xud7 as the valves might not clear but don't quote me on that... Everything else is interchangeable.

Hmmm thanks ruan. I'll look into it an if I can't find anything about the valve clearance then I'll just try and hope I don't bend more valves than ed's 6

Valve to piston clearance is fine, its whether they'll touch the edges of the block, I don't think they will...
Have you thought about a DW8 head on an xud7 block, that I bet would work.. Just maybe look at the DW8 valve sizes and see if you can put turbo valves in as they're more heat resistant...
