So Max has diagnosed the grinding sound coming from the auxiliaries is the air con pump, most likely the bearings and there's some play in it.
The air con doesn't work, surprise surprise, so I need to know how I go about removing the air con pump... Can you just remove the bracket and get a rallye/1.8 set up?

Yup just remove the pump and fit rally belt set up, not sure on the 1.8 that would be a cheaper option though, will see if any one else knows as I need to do the same to mine

Must be a 2.0 one, it's not a rally thing which allot make out but any 2.0 iron block engine without A/C, mind I'd buy new as most S/H ones are well worn out now and paying £50.00 for them is silly as for another 45.00 you can have new

Thanks guys.
I'm going to have a think about this. I'm happy to buy another a/c pump tbh, even if the a/c doesn't work.. It hasn't ever done so I'm not missing much! The current one is fooked; grinding away and it's got a bit of play. Ain't nobody got time fo dat.

Thanks Jamie. I can obtain the parts, I'm just not sure if I want to. This week I haven't been thinking very 'because race car'.... probably because of Gingies crash; it's kinda put things into perspective.
Let's see what I choose next week after I've been paid...

I might have a air con compressor you can have. If I still have it, it's just taking up space in my shed
With regards to the lynx kit, you might as well pay an engineer to carve the parts from a solid billet of ally with a tooth pick. Would probably be cheaper!

Thanks Niall, I'll take that off you if you've still got it. I'll repay you in beer or a reach around (from Stephen, of course).

Dude you need a f*cking mortgage just to buy a oil filter from Lynx. If your going to get rid of the compressor, your looking at about £100 for parts from a motor factors.

Just take it off and fit standard, new 2.0 non ac parts. You can ditch the air con rad, pipes and feel better knowing you've saved about 5kg :-)
the pump is a son of a bitch to get off though!!
