Hmm, I thought the MPG gauge in the rev counter was just a recent thing, as a colleague's 3 series has it (only about 3-4yrs old).

Didn't realise they had them all the way as far back as K reg!

My M-reg Golf had one, it was pretty accurate too, and my N-reg Calibra had one...
