PPC Challenge car - 205 1.9XUD TD25VNT - dturbopeck - 22-03-2013

May the metal casing may look slightly blue, but if it dry it will be that, check both sides

RE: PPC Challenge car - 205 1.9XUD TD25VNT - ginge191 - 26-03-2013

Ok,

Just to keep this alive;

Ordered a lot of parts for next week, strictlylag is off work for the week, and i would've handed in my 'last' uni essay, so the plan is to get the engine in next week.

Monday - work
Tuesday & Wednesday, strip the car down, front end off, engine disconnected, engine out, start cleaning the bay
Thursday - Saturday - new engine in!

The car will be running a top mount with a T2 for now, untill i can get the turbo adapted. a bit of a pain and not ideal, but at least the car will be back on the road.

Massive credits at this point to CJderv for his donation, gareth7 for his workmanship and donation, Warlord from .net for the donation and also AndyG for the fuel pump! has made this budget build a lot easier! Smile

Stay with me people! ThumbsUp

Picking engine crane up on saturday, hope to have the engine in by next week - just need to source final parts of gearbox, still waiting on clutch and fuel pump to arrive, but in the post at the moment so must arrive soon!! Big Grin

RE: PPC Challenge car - 205 1.9XUD (Engine in - videos) - ginge191 - 06-04-2013

So couldn't be arsed making a photo album of an engine change, so downloaded a quick stop motion app, here are the results with the obligatory "hi look at me in my engine bay" picture.

Fairly single handed this job, with the odd hour help from max, as well as spare engines, gearbox's and odds around the garage after shit wouldn't budge!!! Dodgy

So as the car stands - the car is in, fuel and basic wiring to get it running - ran out of time yesterday, didn't get it turning over quite - a sat engine just didn't want to breathe Sad

Will have another day tinkering soon to get this on the road, it's getting fuel etc, just a dry ass engine took a while to turn over - ended up killling the battery, so charging this up then back onto getting it living.

As usual - encountered numerous problems on the way, hence the engine coming out UNDER the car Doh but nonetheless, new engine is in, on two mounts.

Left to do - plumbing, rest of wiring, both drishafts (recond'), suspension, new brakes, hubs and wheels to put on then on the road! Smile

Ah, you've broken rule number 1: always wash hands before picking nose - you'll get an infection the way you're going.

Possibly ninja

Thanks, has been a tough few days to say the least. From doing as much as a turbo change, to an engine change Doh
Is a good sight, and even better once the engines running!

RE: PPC Challenge car - 205 1.9XUD Stop motion pg 7 - Dum-Dum - 07-04-2013

TBH an engine change is probably easier than a turbo change as there is so much better access.

RE: PPC Challenge car - 205 1.9XUD Stop motion pg 7 - ginge191 - 07-04-2013

Erm in terms of accessibility, I suppose, but there's a lot of new things I've learnt through this. Wiring, water piping, timing, clutch, gearboxes etc.

Thanks mate!! Really appreciated, work and looks fantastic!

After having injector problems, split rad, awquard oil filter, boost problems I'm left with a slightly dodgy fuel pump, BUT managed to get it on the road, it's driving and got it 30odd miles one the motorway to home!

One of the BEST feelings ever!

A new radiator is on the way and I'm reading around about the fuel pump. But at least it's running and roadworthy!

RE: PPC Challenge car - 205 1.9XUD Stop motion pg 7 - Poodle - 17-04-2013

Are you all bosched up? If so, I think ive got half a seal kit kicking about somewhere you can have.

RE: PPC Challenge car - 205 1.9XUD Stop motion pg 7 - ginge191 - 17-04-2013

Long story short;

Drove the car home yesterday, got home ok beside very temporamental fueling; hard to explain, on and off, cuts out, revs high, just very difficult to use.

Started this morning, after a while of turning over, drove 1 mile down the road, accelerated around a car, went to change gear and nothing. not fuel, lights on the dash, engine cut out - swung into a bay on the side of the road; RAC out, they don't have a clue. Putting it down to two things - timing, and fuel pump. I'll check the timing when i get a chance and sending the fuel pump back, popping on a 9mm for now.

Afraid this is being put on the bench whilst i focus on university work.

So close, yet so far. Again.

Sounds exactly like air in the fuel to me mate, identical to the symptoms I had. Which, incidentally, is exactly why I bought the seal kit in the first place lol. Prime candidates are the filter housing amd priming grenade.

It's got a new grenade and fuel line all the way. It primes and holds it's pressure fine, i'll go double check now ThumbsUp

RE: PPC Challenge car - 205 1.9XUD Stop motion pg 7 - ginge191 - 22-04-2013

To keep this alive; unless this standard 9mm works, this unfortunately is going to be scrapped; most awful decision i'd have to make, purely because it'll cost me more than it's worth, challenge or no challenge. If the 9mm works, everything is still on track and it'd be time to get on track with bolting up the VNT. Until then; only time will tell.

Dissertation has taken priority over the car at the moment unfortunately.

Shame to here it dude, I like the project not often you see a 5 door 205 with a massive blower!

RE: PPC Challenge car - 205 1.9XUD Stop motion pg 7 - darrenjlobb - 24-04-2013

If it was dumped on my doorstep with a GOOD VNT, it would be making 180-200hp in 24 hours of work time on it, you cant fail on this and the boosted 1.8!, mtfu and get it sorted, its an xud, its never major!
