De-glazing cylinders - Ben - 03-10-2012

I've just had a go at de-glazing my cylinder walls. I've watched quite a few YouTube vids first to try and get the right technique, and I think it went reasonably well.

What I didn't get from the vids though was how to know how much pressure to apply. I've de-glazed on the lowest pressure setting on the tool and its de-glazed and left score marks (although no where near as diagonal as before), but should I then tighten the tool and do it again?

Also the majority of the score marks are good, but there are a couple which are more obvious, and you can feel with your nail a little easier. Is this normal?

What you using as a lubricant? last time i did this i used a huge tin of WD40 and medium rpm drill

You want to use something like 3in1 for a lube. Fairly light pressure and keep at it on probably about 1/4 drill speed. You want the hatching to be slightly less than a 45 degree angle tk each other until the bores are almost a Matt finish. Don't be scared to put too much pressure on but just remember to keep it regularly lubed up....giggidy

Cheers guys, I've been using parrafin as that's what I was recommended.

I used parafin, and made sure my movement in and out was fairly quick to ensure a half decent angle on the hatches.
