The old dturbo project - dturbopeck - 11-08-2012

Ive been doing my project for over a year now, but that's due to the British weather! Anyway ive done all my the work myself on it this time, ive even sprayed it in my garage! and i must say its a pretty good job, i also know what you all are thinking right now!

My pug started life as a standard 1995 306 dturbo in sigma blue, it was like this for about 6 months till i stuck sum 17" wheels on and lowered it, for about 1 year and i fitted the ph3 front end and debadged, then 2 years later i do alot of miles and had alot of stone chips so i took it to the bodyshop to get the front end resprayed, then 6 weeks later i got the phone call it was ready to be picked up,

and it looked like this:

I got carried away at the bodyshop, lol

Then the gti 6 seats and door cards, and got them recovered:

Then i put the front mount on and adjusted fuel and boost:

Then the tunes in:

Coil overs on:

It was like that for about 6yrs, but 2 of them sitting on my drive sorn and going rusty, so i got my arse into gear, and started to sort it out, and i didnt want to pay £1000+ for a bad paint job so i did it myself, here some pics of the body work:

RE: The old dturbo project - 4WayDiablo - 11-08-2012

Looks a 100x better in the silver and Lexus lights gone! :-) top work gone into it

How did you get away with removing the side indicators? From the wing

The old dturbo project - dturbopeck - 11-08-2012

Yeah, I've got a blind mot tester! Lol

Re: The old dturbo project - WiNgNuTz - 11-08-2012

Have you not relocated them then? Looks pretty good mate, not sure on the bodykit myself, but each to their own! Good to see its got the right engine though! lol

RE: The old dturbo project - WiNgNuTz - 12-08-2012

Obviously, ive yet to remove the old repeaters...but you get the point. lol

The old dturbo project - dturbopeck - 12-08-2012

That's a good idea, maybe theres somewhere else I can put them,

RE: The old dturbo project - lolsteve - 12-08-2012

Thats a monster of an intercooler!!

On a serious note, where are your interior vents? looks like your binned them for a boost gauge and dvd player, do you not suffer in the summer?

The old dturbo project - dturbopeck - 12-08-2012

Yeah mate, it's all going back to standard this time,

RE: The old dturbo project - Joe - 13-08-2012

The old dturbo project - dturbopeck - 14-10-2012

It's been awhile due to not having alot of time, so here's a slight update

Replaced front discs and pads,
Changed a couple of bulbs,
Replaced number plate bulb holder was rotten,
Cut and welded exhaust to make fit new bumper,

Took it for mot on Thursday and it passed with only 2 advisorys:

NSF brake pipe rusty
Both front brake flexi ends rusty

Not bad for sitting on my drive for 2 years!

Taxed it on Friday

And here it is, my pug reborn

RE: The old dturbo project - dturbopeck - 21-10-2012

well fitted LDA pin that dan ground for me, and i had very little smoke on boost, so after a bit of a tinker and alot more fuel, it was them flying, until it stopped on me, This being the 1st time it has ever stopped on me in 12 years! Bloody alternater not charging! so i ran battery dry. Any way after snapping loads of bolts i got the alt i had lying around in my garage on, to find still not charging! BUGGER! anyway found it was a bad earth on top of gearbox, Nevermind at least its fixed AGAIN!!!!

The old dturbo project - dturbopeck - 05-02-2013

Well the 11mm had a problem, so it's got a modified 9mm that's maxed out on now, it's going pretty well now tho, I've built a 12mm pump now, I got it cheap so I will give it ago, and see what happens
[Image: u5atudu6.jpg]

Anyway found a cheap TD04l so I have that all clocked and waste gate welded up ready to go on, hopefully get the pump on at the same time,

Also got the timing belt and water pump done at the weekend,

The old dturbo project - dturbopeck - 10-02-2013

Well got the 12mm on, on Friday night, seams to of woke the turbo up alittle, and pulls well,

Anyway done about 20 miles now and it's now got a bloody misfire at 3k and it feels like you can rev though it,

Today got the engine bay cleaned,

And got the car washed

RE: The old dturbo project - Ben - 10-02-2013

Looks very clean, and I like it without the side strips. Not keen on the front bumper at all but I quite like the back one. Good restoration anyway!

The old dturbo project - dturbopeck - 15-02-2013

Cheers,

As for pump, I will sort it over weekend, am getting good at these pump changes .

I've also been looking at water injection kits, so it looks like I will be getting next month,

Things get and do:

Get the td04 on
Water injection
Oil cooler
Oil catch tank
Fit polished rocker cover
Fit polished inlet manifold
Fit Hdi box

RE: The old dturbo project - puglove - 15-02-2013

Engine looks good. Still looks a little max power special on the outside

RE: The old dturbo project - dturbopeck - 16-02-2013

well got around to removing the pump again today, and it looks like it was my fault too, must of over tightened the throttle arm and its eaten through the washer on the bottom and eat halfway through gov cradle, and all the little bits of metal gone into the pump and damaged the cam plate and blocked the filter in the 12mm head, i will add a pic later,

so ive cleaned it all up, rebuilt it back up with all the levers, gov cradle and the top housing of the pump also left the standard lda pin in as its alot more agressive from the 12mm pump, now it seems to run fine but i havent drove it yet as i may as well do the brake master cylinder while the engine mount is off tomorrow.

The old dturbo project - dturbopeck - 17-02-2013

Today got the gti 6 master cylinder fitted

Finished off fitting the rebuilt 12mm, to find it's got the same fault as before,

The old dturbo project - dturbopeck - 22-02-2013

Started to fit 406 brembos,

The discs are massive compared to the standard dturbo discs.

The old dturbo project - dturbopeck - 11-03-2013

Well got hold of an Hdi rear axle cheap but it did have worn bearings, so it's getting a full refurb:

Old axle stubs

New axle subs fitted and painted arms

Started to paint beam

New bearings bed seals fitted

Will build axle on the car as I find it easier, also have to set height,

RE: The old dturbo project - Willo - 13-03-2013

great work mate what bumper is that front one looks great on a 306

RE: The old dturbo project - Matt - 13-03-2013

Not keen on the front bumper but the rest looks good Smile

Definatley a better paint job than before! Haha

The old dturbo project - dturbopeck - 13-03-2013

The bumper is a Peugeot Ecosse maygal bumper, not sure if I like it myself

RE: The old dturbo project - samsdad2011 - 13-03-2013

looks good in silver mate

RE: The old dturbo project - sam - 13-03-2013

In my opinion smoothed oem bumpers and some suttle alloys would look epic Big Grin how does the 12 pump go like?

I know what you mean, tempted to smooth the ph3 I have in the garage, 12mm went really well until it went bang, when I get time I will build another one, turbos next after rear beams sorted

RE: The old dturbo project - sam - 13-03-2013

Fully smoothed phase 3 bumpers looks amazing Big Grin needs epic lows to pull it off though

The old dturbo project - dturbopeck - 16-03-2013

Well today's job was to remove old axle, and start to build new one on the car

Old axle removed

Axle less

Doing my maths trying to do the job perfect

Axle complete,

Well turns out my os caliper is sized, so I've order 2 new calipers with the 32mm piston,
