Clock/Radio not working - londondan86 - 10-08-2012

Since doing my Hg when tge car was off the road with the battery disconnected for a few weeks my clock and stereo dont work.

The clock has the back lights lit but no display, tried 2 different ones, same problem.

The stereo does nothing at all, comletely dead. There is 12v at the back of it, checked with a meter and my boost gauge I wired in there which does work. The stereo itself is fine, checked it on the missus golf today. While I had the meter out I checked accross the yellow wire to ground and this showed 0.41v regardless of key position, what should this be reading?

Lastly checked fuses 1 & 25 which the manual shows are for the clock and radio.

Help required please chaps and muchos rep for anyone that can solve this, need tunes!!

Where should I check. Any ideas what the reading off the yellow wire should be, is it another 12v switched live?

why dont you just try and patch the earth? rule that out?

I'd check all the fuses and sort the earth

All fuses are fine and I cant find any earth wires that have come off. Given up with it tbh, the new owner can have fun with that one!

check the earth strap from the battery to chassis and the one by the pedals
