URGENT!! Fuel filter change now its F**KED!!? - CardHore - 31-05-2012 As above, did an oila nd fuel filter change... Following the filter change the engine stalled and wouldnt restart. This was only coming out of my road. I checked the filter housing and there was diesel in it, the car decides when it wants to start and stall... it needs pre-igniting a few times before it will run and how long it runs for completely varies... Now thats been like that for an hour of trying to hold it running... it now fires first time and drives but the power is limited to 2.5k rpm...] All over a filter change?! I did put the old filter back in for now Please help, this car has got to be spot on for the weekend Ta James Re: URGENT!! Fuel filter change now its F**KED!!? - Ricky - 31-05-2012 Sounds like it isn't sealed properly and getting air in the system. Re: URGENT!! Fuel filter change now its F**KED!!? - Poodle - 31-05-2012 As above. And make sure you use genuine fuel filters on the HDis. Re: URGENT!! Fuel filter change now its F**KED!!? - Mr Whippy - 31-05-2012 So you had issues for a few hours and ended up putting the old one back in, and now it works fine, or it's still going wrong? Dave Re: URGENT!! Fuel filter change now its F**KED!!? - stevieg - 03-06-2012 ignition on for 10 secs, off for 5 secs, do that 6 times and it will prime the fuel system. also replace the seal on the lid otherwise it may not seal properly, if its a quality filter it will have one in the box. try a Hengst filter from euro car parts, always use them at work and never have problems Re: URGENT!! Fuel filter change now its F**KED!!? - daddyfixit - 04-06-2012 something hasnt sealed properly; causing air to be brought into the system--causing hard starting and the inability to rev up prperly. either the lid o-ring or perhaps a pipe you have removed/refitted ? |
