Wiggling Gti - rocker8742 - 27-01-2017 Noticed recently the Gti is starting to wiggle. It feels like there's a bit more play in the steering before getting any result and when going over bumps/hard corners it feels like the backend is coming around It's not just me being over enthusiastic or slippery roads as its getting worse and doing it in places it never been an issue before. I've not had a proper chance to look at it yet but wanted some advice about where to start. And no, unfortunately haven't done a RWD conversion Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk RE: Wiggling Gti - Midnightclub - 27-01-2017 Beam mounts? RE: Wiggling Gti - Poodle - 27-01-2017 As above, sounds like classic beam mount symptoms. Wiggling Gti - rocker8742 - 27-01-2017 Best way to test and best replacements then boys? Has yours not got solid beam mounts? Wiggling Gti - rocker8742 - 28-01-2017 I don't think it has ... Will have to double check now lol Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk RE: Wiggling Gti - cully - 28-01-2017 if it has solid mounts id go for shit rear tyres on a damp road or an imbalance of the brakes or even using the brakes into the corner Wiggling Gti - rocker8742 - 28-01-2017 (28-01-2017, 12:10 PM)cully Wrote: if it has solid mounts id go for shit rear tyres on a damp road or an imbalance of the brakes or even using the brakes into the corner It's weird though it's not so much on the brakes more when you plant it on the exit it almost feels like the rear left squats down and lifts the front up Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk RE: Wiggling Gti - welshpug - 28-01-2017 check the rear dampers are ok, and that the beam isn't worn out. Wiggling Gti - rocker8742 - 29-01-2017 I'd hope it's not the beam was a Steffens rebuild within the last 2 years Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk RE: Wiggling Gti - Stef205 - 29-01-2017 As said check your mounts especially the fronts they get over looked. Im not sure if chris fitted new when i built it for him. Wiggling Gti - rocker8742 - 29-01-2017 Ill pop it in the air this week/weekend and see where we're at [emoji1303] Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Wiggling Gti - rocker8742 - 10-02-2017 Had a nose under last weekend, definitely solid mounts and I've got yet another goosed rear shock, that's now 2 on the same side in 7 months Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk RE: Wiggling Gti - tigerstyle - 10-02-2017 What brand are they? Wiggling Gti - rocker8742 - 10-02-2017 They're Koni adjustables Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk RE: Wiggling Gti - RetroPug - 10-02-2017 Koni yellows? Mine have been great and still look and feel as new, including after having been on sprints, prescott etc. Strange! Wiggling Gti - rocker8742 - 10-02-2017 Is a bit weird, although don't know what previous life they've had. need to see how much Koni charge for a refurb and maybe set them a little stiffer Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Out of interest how hard are yours set?
