Dashboard intermittent rev counter, no coolant temperature. - Dantheman1312 - 05-07-2016

Hello!

Another problem now that im trying to sort out...

1.The RPM gauge is intermittent on my car. very occasionally it comes on but very juddery.
2. The coolant guague dosnt work.

Work i have done:

I have cleaned the sensor i was led to believe the RPM sensor (connects to the engine by the gearbox mounting, which plugs in round the front on a white 3 pin plug). which has now stopped it working completely.

I have replaced a blue plugged sensor just below the fuel filter housing. however the sensor i replaced it with only had one wire.
The original one had two wires. this has not worked. do i need to have a 2 wire sensor?

Forgot to mention it is the XUD TE 1.9 Phase 1 1996 D Turbo.

Any advice would be great!  Sleepy  Thanks Daniel

Anyone got any advice what I should replace or how I can test what has broken

Give the Rev sensor on the back of the engine a tap in and see of the gauge jumps to life

Check the plugs connecting the loom to the back of the instrument cluster are securely plugged in. While you have it out, check the rear of the circuit board for corrosion.
