266 brakes - 4WayDiablo - 08-05-2012 I take it theyre all the same Ed says the ones on my car are from an hdi There's a ph1 xsi is a local breakers that should have 266 disks/pads? Anything else in the pug range that will have the same? 406hdi? Thanks in advance :-) Re: 266 brakes - Ruan - 08-05-2012 They did a Bosch and a Lucas caliper/carrier - two different sets of pads, discs are the same however. Re: 266 brakes - cully - 08-05-2012 what he said ^^^ Re: 266 brakes - Eeyore - 08-05-2012 1.8 comes with 266 Re: 266 brakes - 4WayDiablo - 08-05-2012 Ruan Wrote:They did a Bosch and a Lucas caliper/carrier - two different sets of pads, discs are the same however.Ha okey thanks for that Shall hope this xsi is the same Trouble is my pad had shattered and popped out. I know its scored the disk at least half way round as I was just pulling up outside home when the pad made a bid for freedom Reckon the caliper will be alright pushed back in? Re: 266 brakes - Jenkosowls - 08-05-2012 as long as the piston aint damaged youl be fine use a big g clamp to push it back in unless you want to dislocate your thumbs! thought about upgrading you can get a 283 setup of a 307 for around £40 Re: 266 brakes - 4WayDiablo - 08-05-2012 Jenkosowls Wrote:as long as the piston aint damaged youl be fine use a big g clamp to push it back in unless you want to dislocate your thumbs! thought about upgrading you can get a 283 setup of a 307 for around £40I'll see what they got haha going to scrap yard see what I can get Re: 266 brakes - 4WayDiablo - 08-05-2012 Just want something direct fit They are 17mm the 2 bolts for calipers? Or 19? Re: 266 brakes - Ruan - 08-05-2012 Thing is that the 283s aren't much better, the caliper is the same, it's only the carrier that's different and they're so much heavier... Until you've upgraded the pads, no point in going for 283s... Unless you're stonking it round a track and repeatedly abusing the brakes, the 266s on decent pads are perfect. You can make 266s better than 283s with better pads... The pads are everything with these. Re: 266 brakes - Poodle - 08-05-2012 19mm if memory serves. Re: 266 brakes - 4WayDiablo - 08-05-2012 Too far gone? Re: 266 brakes - 4WayDiablo - 08-05-2012 Abs caliper on a non and car? Get away with cutting the abs wires? Re: 266 brakes - Ruan - 08-05-2012 They're Bosch calipers FYI... They aren't the same as the ones you have, I'm 99% yours are Lucas calipers... The calipers will be fine with a clean though. Re: 266 brakes - 4WayDiablo - 08-05-2012 Yeah they're Bosch and I think k mine are Lucas but I'll be getting the whole caliper so no problem? Will my brake lines fit these? Re: 266 brakes - spike2002 - 08-05-2012 the abs is in the hub not caliper. if there are wires coming off the pads they are for ware indicator light that comes up on the dash : if you havent got this feature on ur car you can just cut the wires off Re: 266 brakes - Ruan - 08-05-2012 Why do you need a new caliper? Why can't you just put new pads and discs on? Much easier!!! Re: 266 brakes - 4WayDiablo - 08-05-2012 Ruan Wrote:Why do you need a new caliper?Looks like the piston has broken the seal they look f*cked lol Re: 266 brakes - Kezzieboy - 08-05-2012 My 266mm jobbies do a reasonable job of stopping me on OEM spec Mintex pads, but I reckons these would sharpen things up nicely: http://www.camskill.co.uk/m33b0s3361p27 ... rake_Pads_ I think I eventually found the right part number Re: 266 brakes - Toms306 - 08-05-2012 Lucas 266s are on all models newer than x reg aswell (except 6) btw, both my 1.4s had 266s as standard. |
