No Longer in the Fold - C.A.R. - 28-06-2015 After just 9 hours on eBay my trusty 306 DTurbo sold last weekend, and I was very sorry to see her go Looking at the log book I notice I was only 1 week shy of having owned it for 3 years - the longest I've ever owned a single car. She gave me all the common 306 faults but cost me so little and was such a pleasure to drive, I'd recommend one to anybody considering it reading these forums for the first time. I went through- Both driveshafts A clutch A cambelt change A set of brakes (Pads & discs) 6 Tyres (admittedly the ones on it when I obtained the car were knackered!) 1 Wheel (pesky rock) 1 Front Bumper 2 Backboxes 1 2nd Hand beam Both handbrake cables 2 Aux belts 1 New pulley Several different stereos 2 different engine maps And 47,000 miles! Hopefully the new owner will appreciate the car as much as I did. Farewell old shed! RE: No Longer in the Fold - C2K - 28-06-2015 Crikey I don't think I went through that many parts in 200k! RE: No Longer in the Fold - Toms306 - 28-06-2015 Can't believe it's (almost) 3 years since you bought that one Chris! How's the company car? RE: No Longer in the Fold - Iceman299 - 28-06-2015 How much did you get for it in the end? RE: No Longer in the Fold - C.A.R. - 28-06-2015 £950 in the end. I know Tom, time has really flown by. Company car is massively boring, trying to convince my dad to invest in a project car we can both drive / tinker with before he gets too old! Amazing how much you miss just having a car you can have a spirited drive in, video games aren't filling that void for me sadly, and whilst I'm now earning more I have some credit card debt to clear and a wedding to save for - so a weekend toy is a bit out of reach! Simon, immense thanks for helping with that clutch change. I put the majority of this maintenance down to the previous owner being a bit liberal wifh the car - both driveshafts I later discovered had been replaced with 2nd hand ones - I despair, when decent new ones are so cheap! RE: No Longer in the Fold - HDi--Power - 28-06-2015 Had mine for 6 years now, ironically also 3 door and moonstone. Could never part with it RE: No Longer in the Fold - 7057sam - 28-06-2015 What company car did you get ?? Yeah i can't beat my 306 as a daily with bags of character, even if it's isn't the most economical it's still epic RE: No Longer in the Fold - Iceman299 - 29-06-2015 Got decent money for it. You'll be back soon enough though lol RE: No Longer in the Fold - Eeyore - 29-06-2015 Looks like it was a lovely car :/ RE: No Longer in the Fold - Matt - 29-06-2015 Can't believe how long you have had this for! It's been crazy long! Bet you are sad to see that go! |
