rear beam rebuild bits - Piggy - 20-05-2015 I know that a few people bought a bunch of the washers, bolts, seals etc for rear beam a while back... Anyone got any left?? And recommend some bearings?? rear beam rebuild bits - Frosty - 20-05-2015 Stef would prob be the best man to speak to on this. I would say for the bearing get them from peugeot if they still do them RE: rear beam rebuild bits - Stef205 - 20-05-2015 Genuine bearings are available around £15 each, bolts are around £1 each plus nuts etc I think it works out at around £130 for both sides plus your trailing arm shafts which are £100 each from pug. RE: rear beam rebuild bits - Piggy - 20-05-2015 £230 just for parts!? :-o http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/ACHSTRAGER-CITROEN-XSARA-ZX-PEUGEOT-306-LAGER-ACHSKORPER-HINTERACHSE-ACHSE-/171161817537?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_77&fits=Model%3A306&hash=item27da0a11c1 what about that!? RE: rear beam rebuild bits - Niall - 20-05-2015 Try £330 and a new calculator RE: rear beam rebuild bits - Piggy - 20-05-2015 (20-05-2015, 09:44 PM)Niall Wrote: Try £330 and a new calculator ahh I misread that it was PER side! stuff that. can get refurbed for less surely!? RE: rear beam rebuild bits - Stef205 - 20-05-2015 long time ago since i checked peugeots prices but its never pretty. Id advise going with a well known manufacture of parts im affraid you get what you pay for and imo if they can supply a tube and bearings etc for that id question the quality. RE: rear beam rebuild bits - welshpug - 20-05-2015 http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/120976019232 used a few of those without issue, with the euro getting a hammering its a no brainer IMO. I've got a few fasteners and bits spare too, so strip it apart and let me know if there's any you need, there's no point ordering any till you've got it apart as you might only need on or tow, or ALL OF THEM! RE: rear beam rebuild bits - Niall - 20-05-2015 You realise Piggy that Stef does refurb beams for less than the parts cost from Pug new right? RE: rear beam rebuild bits - Stef205 - 20-05-2015 do you not plan to change the shafts? they may look good but untill you measure them you cant be sure RE: rear beam rebuild bits - Piggy - 20-05-2015 (20-05-2015, 09:48 PM)welshpug Wrote: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/120976019232 Thanks fella. I need the ARB seals for SURE! and the plastic caps have all but had it tbh (20-05-2015, 09:50 PM)Niall Wrote: You realise Piggy that Stef does refurb beams for less than the parts cost from Pug new right? no idea. I assumed he would have said a price if he wanted Dont wana assume anything (20-05-2015, 09:51 PM)Stef205 Wrote: do you not plan to change the shafts? they may look good but untill you measure them you cant be sure possibly. If needs be I will obviously. The beam has done about 45k miles. I removed it personally from a cabby couple years ago and it had done 30k. Its only that when I swapped ARBs a month ago, the ARB was a bit orange and damp. The ARB seals were dead. So would like to think just the bearings. There is no camber what so ever and no play and they are both nice n free n noiseless! what you think to this stef? - http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Peugeot-205-309-306-GTi-Rear-Beam-rebuild-kit-bearings-seals-GENUINE-PARTS-/271873305296?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_3&hash=item3f4ce96ad0 RE: rear beam rebuild bits - welshpug - 20-05-2015 not yet had an used beam apart that had usable shafts regardless of mileage, its age that does it I.m.e. also what its come off, a 5 door with skinny torsion bars will be in much better condition than an xsi/s16/gti6/rallye/dturbohdi beam. RE: rear beam rebuild bits - Stef205 - 20-05-2015 Its personal choice should you go for genuine or not. I warrant all my rebuilds for 2 years should you want me to rebuild you one. I do them at £280 for forum members than that comes with new bolts and arb seals and bushes. Exactly as niall and sam had a few weeks ago. As said the shafts are normally dead and arent worth taking the risk on used items, I always replace them RE: rear beam rebuild bits - Paul_13 - 21-05-2015 I'll be in touch Stef some point in the near future. I need a 205 beam and a 306 beam RE: rear beam rebuild bits - Poodle - 21-05-2015 (20-05-2015, 09:52 PM)Piggy Wrote:(20-05-2015, 09:48 PM)welshpug Wrote: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/120976019232 Well that's just weird, typed out a reply and deleted most of that quoted crap, yet when i hit post that ^^^ appeared, ie all of the quotes and none of the reply... I'll summarise: Piggy made an amusing self-contradiction (assuming), i took the piss a bit and helpfully pointed out the link in Stef's sig and suggested he start reading the forums with his eyes open. Edit: I know you've been feeling down of late, pigger, so in case you feel i'm just being nasty, here's some kisses. (i done 15k on that) When me and jamie first had it apart, it was perfect inside, we added some grease to the bearings while at it. But obviously the ARb seals went n let some moisture in recently. Looks quality. http://m.ebay.co.uk/itm/120976019232?_mwBanner=1 RE: rear beam rebuild bits - Piggy - 22-05-2015 yeah thanks. thats the one been linked already. I think I will see if I can win the whole peugeot set someone is selling. if not, get a shaftless beam already done RE: rear beam rebuild bits - Stef205 - 22-05-2015 not sure why there what appears to be 2 pairs of driveshaft seals. I do have some good s/h shafts if that is what your looking for. RE: rear beam rebuild bits - Stef205 - 22-05-2015 If your talking about bearing depths measure it before you remove them. Tbh, I've never rebuilt a beam before, it's part of the reason I want to do it.... so in stupid derrrr mode...."bearing depths"?? There is so much I DIDN'T do with Pugs despite being trained in a pug specialist. We just sourced out jobs like that and did the fitting much to my disappointment. RE: rear beam rebuild bits - Toms306 - 23-05-2015 Have you seen Gretsch-Drummers beam rebuild guide? It's pretty comprehensive.
