brake pads! - 4WayDiablo - 02-04-2012 Mine have life in them but theyre shit so been looking at new ones Few questions.. Ebc greenstuffs? Ferodo ds2500? Mintex 1144? Are the mintex/ferodo worth double the price of the greenstuffs? Any other reccomendations? Also when it comes to changing them ive not done it on a pug before but is the piston just push in with mole grips or is it a screw piston? Re: brake pads! - Niall - 02-04-2012 Rarely will you find a screw in piston on the front calipers. You wont do them with mole grips but you can either use a g clamp or I just bolted the caliper back to the carrier and used a screwdriver to slowly prise it back against the old disc. I had ebcs on my Saab and they were epic. Can't say I've ever used the other 2 but I've heard both good and bad about the mintex pads Re: brake pads! - Toms306 - 02-04-2012 I've had the green stuffs and they were damn good imo, not had the others so can't compare though. Piston pushes in on the front, screws in on the rear. brake pads! - Jonny b - 02-04-2012 1155's is what you want and just push the pistons on with your hand you big girl lol Re: brake pads! - 4WayDiablo - 02-04-2012 Jonny b Wrote:1155's is what you want and just push the pistons on with your hand you big girl lolTheyre rated for full on track use no? brake pads! - Jonny b - 02-04-2012 Yep!! brake pads! - Jonny b - 02-04-2012 Ha ha just make sure you don't have to stop when they are cold Re: brake pads! - Toms306 - 03-04-2012 Jonny b Wrote:Ha ha just make sure you don't have to stop when they are cold Thats why greenstuffs are better.....they actually work all the time. ![]() Re: brake pads! - Kezzieboy - 03-04-2012 So do 1144s from what Ive heard, its just the 1155s that are a bit too hardcore for the road. I personally listen to rippthrough on these matters, and he always recommends the mintex pads, so that's what I'm getting next. brake pads! - Ed Doe - 03-04-2012 I have 1144s they are VERY good. I've not suffered fade so far have have used them very hard indeed... Iirc the ferodo ds2500s fall in between the mintex 1144s and 1155s in terms of performance. Re: brake pads! - 4WayDiablo - 03-04-2012 How much you pay for your mintex ed? Are they worth the hundred quid? brake pads! - Matt - 03-04-2012 Ed Doe Wrote:I have 1144s they are VERY good. Can echo the above, after bein in eds car at the last camping meet the 1144s are enough to put you through a windscreen haha Re: brake pads! - 4WayDiablo - 03-04-2012 Matt Wrote:I just hope that they're just as good in 266 formatEd Doe Wrote:I have 1144s they are VERY good.
