Key fobs - thebluepearl - 28-05-2014 I have a spare key fob from an R reg 306 was wondering if it can be programmed to run alongside my w reg 306 key fob? RE: Key fobs - DarkInferno - 29-05-2014 Erm.. not sure if an R reg would have a RF fob... if they both look the same it shouldn't be an issue, if the R reg one has a led stuck out the front and the other doesn't.... no dice. RE: Key fobs - thebluepearl - 29-05-2014 Both fobs no l.e.d. In either could do with a back up key and blip. RE: Key fobs - Niall - 29-05-2014 No It can't. Ph2 ones work on infra red where as Ph3 is RF so they both work in completely different ways RE: Key fobs - thebluepearl - 29-05-2014 Explain why it didn't work on my old 306 the previous owner had told me it required batteries and recoding to car RE: Key fobs - Niall - 29-05-2014 (29-05-2014, 05:55 PM)thebluepearl1 Wrote: Explain why it didn't work on my old 306 the previous owner had told me it required batteries and recoding to car The previous owner lied to you then :p Circa 1999 PH3 was released with RF keys. They are not interchangeable with the old IR ones. Have a look at both where the key blade goes into the casing. If one of them is a IR one, it will have a small clear LED looking sender. If neither of them have anything like that, they are both PH3 RE: Key fobs - thebluepearl - 29-05-2014 Some bloody friend he was ha ha it was ok though as I never used the fob as it was pointless locking the car, you could unlock it with a 20 pence piece Re: RE: Key fobs - kentiiboii - 29-05-2014 (28-05-2014, 07:29 PM)thebluepearl1 Wrote: I have a spare key fob from an R reg 306 was wondering if it can be programmed to run alongside my w reg 306 key fob? So it will need programming with pp2000. Sorry just think you missed read some of it niall RE: Key fobs - Niall - 29-05-2014 If there is no LED on the fob from the R reg then its not from an R reg and never worked with that car. Didn't misread it. It can't be a PH2 fob if there is no LED RE: Key fobs - thebluepearl - 29-05-2014 Calm down chaps, simple mistake to make, so how do I go about getting it programmed? Is it as simple as turn key push and hold fob or pay a man with a laptop? I know, but in the orignal post he was asking if it will work with his phase 3 and the key sounds like its phase 3. Sorry niall I re-read the post and its sounded a bit arsey didnt mean it to be. I was just pointing out that he was asking if it would work with his phase 3. He was just saying that it came with a phase 2 which is what made him think it was phase 2. Right if your car is a PH3 then programming keys is done with PP2000 however, you can only program a key that was previously registered to that car or a brand new key. You can't take a key from a old car thats been scrapped for example and program that to your car. They are sort of one shot if you like. Ok mate thanks for clearing that up for me. :-) RE: Key fobs - jamesgmg - 30-05-2014 Does anyone have the part number for a phase 3 rf key? RE: Key fobs - thebluepearl - 30-05-2014 I'll be requiring a new key fob then as I believe from your description I have a spare phase 3 fob so they won't be able to programme that as it's from a different car, thanks for the info |
