another SPACER/BOLT questions thread...HELP asap - Piggy - 22-04-2014

ok, sorted me some spacers...wider than initially had in mind, but I have the arch gap, so be fine....

anyone, one pair is normal hubcentric with longer bolts...sorted, fine.

the other pair, wingnutz has informed me, are the bolt on type like these...

fine I though....but he has no bolts... doh Doh

so two questions:

1) anyone got a set of 8 of the special shallow headed bolts to bolt these to the hub
2) could a set of short tapered steel bolts be used if I cut the heads down to be shallow headed??

thanks!!!!
need it sorting asap

I would talk to some of the eBay sellers and see if they would sell the bolts individually to you? I wouldn't want to mess about cutting anything down bud.

I would also check what the back of your alloy would look like. You could use bolts where the heads protrude from the face of the spacer if you were running Cyclones, since the would be no material pressed up against the spacer (it would sit in one of the gaps between the bolt-holes if that makes sense).

What does the mating face of your new alloy look like?

I had to buy 1 but it cost be like £4/5 I think so if you need 8 be nearly cheaper to buy the spacers and bolts together.

Maybe worth calling speedshacks I've heard be go on about them

Don't see why you couldn't cut the heads down on some normal bolts tbh, as long as you can still get a socket on enough to do them up and get them off, and the taper matches up with the taper in the spacer, don't see how it'll affect the tensile strength

Might take you a while though to do 8 with a hacksaw ...
