adjusting the wastegate - tuttyboy84 - 09-04-2014

Is there a set amount of turns to shorten the wastegate for 22 psi or are they all trial and error

RE: adjusting the wastegate - ct-hdi - 09-04-2014

Seem to remember this being trial and error... mine went quite a bit on this but not as much on my old hdi strangley

Can't you just buy a Adjustable Boost Controller ?
Think it's a bit easier to fit then adjusting the Waste gate

If fitting a boost controller then you still have tonadjut thw wastegate, but you over adjust it and then use the controller to bring it back down.

Id rather just set the wastegate then not worry about it again and im pretty sure if fitting a boost controller you only interrupt the the pipe from turbine to wastegate rather than moving the wastegate arm

Mine was a good couple of turns IIRC and there wasn't much thread on the bar, it boosts around 19psi

RE: adjusting the wastegate - tuttyboy84 - 10-04-2014

Ok thanks and what does iirc mean???

RE: adjusting the wastegate - Midnightclub - 10-04-2014

if i remember correctly

RE: adjusting the wastegate - pugmanxud - 10-04-2014

Surely. 22 psi is a bit much

RE: adjusting the wastegate - Midnightclub - 10-04-2014

It's about the limit of a stock turbo, anything more than that and it'll pop pretty quickly

RE: adjusting the wastegate - Poodle - 10-04-2014

Anything above 19 is a bit daft imo, if you look at the compressor map for these turbos it clearly shows the efficiency dropping horribly at about 21psi. And that's without thinking about flow limits or exhaust back pressure, there's no need for it.

Mines setup on just an mbc and is perfect, no boost spike or anything
