Air mass meter chip? - karl1989 - 03-03-2014 Just seen this on ebay. What do we think there are like? Mae the car run like its a morning all the time or just a waste of time? http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/AIRFLOW-METER-CHIP-PEUGEOT-106-205-206-306-405-406-GTI-SXI-XN-QUICKSILVER-/201045831530?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item2ecf43ef6a RE: Air mass meter chip? - Toms306 - 03-03-2014 Its just a resistor to fool the ECU.... It will give more power under certain conditions, but will ruin fuel components and make it smoke like a bitch... Your choice though lol. RE: Air mass meter chip? - Poodle - 03-03-2014 It's a resistor exactly like the ones that go on the fuel pressure sensor, aka a chip. Just like any other chip it'll ruin your high-pressure system sharpish and if it's a "powerful" one it'll melt bits of engine/turbo too. I see the advert actually specifies it's not for diesels too, did you even read it..? RE: Air mass meter chip? - karl1989 - 03-03-2014 No didn't read it just thought of POWER RE: Air mass meter chip? - Toms306 - 03-03-2014 Don't you already have a S2 HDi anyway lol? How much more power do you think you can get with your current setup? RE: Air mass meter chip? - Poodle - 04-03-2014 Hahaha POOOWWEEERRRR!! If you want to go past stage 2 you need to look at better turbos before looking at more fuel, various people have made ~200bhp on stock injectors so we're good until then. RE: Air mass meter chip? - karl1989 - 04-03-2014 Ye got a S2 HDI 154bhp but bord of it now RE: Air mass meter chip? - Poodle - 04-03-2014 Yeah, always the way - more is never enough lol. RE: Air mass meter chip? - karl1989 - 04-03-2014 That's the problem. 200bhp sounds nice but think the clutch can only hold up to 300 torque think it's 290 now RE: Air mass meter chip? - Slam Wagon - 04-03-2014 What clutch is in there? RE: Air mass meter chip? - mcglynn - 04-03-2014 What turbo you running 290 lb with? Definitely know that feeling! Have to drive something shit and slow now and then so it feels fast again after lol. Air mass meter chip? - karl1989 - 04-03-2014 Here's the clutch. 154bhp 280lbs/ft on standard turbo RE: Air mass meter chip? - Poodle - 04-03-2014 Seriously only 300lbft? I'm sure Brynllwlywwnlynnog was running about 350 on one of those before the engine popped a leg out of bed... RE: Air mass meter chip? - karl1989 - 04-03-2014 Sure Arron said it was capable off holding 300. Sure it's got something of a berlingo too RE: Air mass meter chip? - mcglynn - 04-03-2014 Ill try again, with what turbo are you making 290 lb RE: Air mass meter chip? - karl1989 - 04-03-2014 (04-03-2014, 07:20 PM)mcglynn Wrote: Ill try again, with what turbo are you making 290 lb Not sure what's on it. Haven't looked RE: Air mass meter chip? - mcglynn - 04-03-2014 Unless its some sort of hybrid/bigger turbo it probably wont makd 290 lb lol RE: Air mass meter chip? - karl1989 - 04-03-2014 RE: Air mass meter chip? - mcglynn - 04-03-2014 Seeems like a very strange figure for a standard turbo if im honest RE: Air mass meter chip? - Poodle - 05-03-2014 Yeah it's a tad high for a standard turbo, probably down to the guys running the dyno. I imagine Arron put the berlingo pressure plate on it, as there were rumours it might have a higher clamping force. RE: Air mass meter chip? - karl1989 - 05-03-2014 He did have a run before I'll try find figures 246lbs/ft 141bhp Graph to follow... Was at 18.4 psi too. It's around 21psi now with a boost leak RE: Air mass meter chip? - Poodle - 05-03-2014 Found some figures from Bryn's build - 245lbft. Hell knows where I got 350 from, wishful thinking probably lol. Even TB's monster 206 only made 330lbft at ~210bhp, so I think it's fairly obvious there's something up with that dyno, although I see the figure is creeping down. Anyway, bear in mind performance clutch manufacturers have to cover their arses to some extent, so chances are the clutch will happily hold 350+. My 130k valeo seems to be handling ~230lbft ok and i'm fairly sure they're not rated past 180. Drash on and see what happens, worry about it if/when it starts to slip tbh. RE: Air mass meter chip? - mcglynn - 05-03-2014 I read somewhere about these readings being from stationary, whereas a clutch in a car womt be subject to 0 - 350 lbft in a short time nevermind in an instant RE: Air mass meter chip? - karl1989 - 05-03-2014 Think the 154 graph was at the Yorkshire rr and they seem accurate but if it is 154 then I'm use to it and it's boring RE: Air mass meter chip? - Poodle - 05-03-2014 If you're bored of the power, then you're bored of the power, doesn't really matter what the power is. All that matters now is the size of the turbo you're going to strap on. RE: Air mass meter chip? - Midnightclub - 05-03-2014 Expect the reason why it 'feels' slow is the way the power/torque drops off after it peaks RE: Air mass meter chip? - karl1989 - 05-03-2014 Not sure what turbo I want yet |
