newbee from N Wales - MARTIN FROM LLAN - 14-02-2014 Hi, I've just been given a 98 306 hatch 1.6 petrol which has been stood for 2 years .Anything that I should really do before I start it up? I'll be trailering it home. Not new to Pugs had about 6 405 and 406's as company cars and then a 307 for 10 years and 2 Boxer vans. My cars are now a Vx Signun , Frontera, 2 Corsas and a Micra ( 21 years old ), the firsst two being mine and these other being driven by swmbo and our two daughters. The 306 will be a spare car, possibly to replace the Micra. Thanx for any advice. RE: newbee from N Wales - Herby7 - 14-02-2014 Welcome Best thing to do is make sure it has some fresh petrol and check the oil coolant etc make sure it has all that . Re: newbee from N Wales - kentiiboii - 15-02-2014 Is start it before you do anything make sure it worth it. Then you wanna service it with cam belt too. :-) RE: newbee from N Wales - MARTIN FROM LLAN - 15-02-2014 Thanks for the advise, am I right in thinking that the camshaft can be locked on these for changing cambelt, to keep timing right RE: newbee from N Wales - Niall - 15-02-2014 Welcome Fresh petrol, unplug the coils or injectors and crank it over a bit before starting to get some oil up top, let it warm up and then do a oil and filter change. Yes, doing a belt is very easy especially on the 8v engines. Pin the cam, pin the crank and change the belt. Simple! RE: newbee from N Wales - MARTIN FROM LLAN - 15-02-2014 cheers thanks for that, cant wait to go and pick it up, tho misses is already complaining about all the cars.
