Engine Rebuild question - SonnyRoby - 12-01-2014 Rebuilding a xud9 engine. What piston rings do you recommend? Thank you! RE: Engine Rebuild question - padge - 12-01-2014 Peugeot oem ones! RE: Engine Rebuild question - SonnyRoby - 13-01-2014 Has anyone tried any other piston rings than oem ones? Not in my budget the oem ones. Also i see the compretion ratio for the xud9 is 21.8. What is that in bar/psi? RE: Engine Rebuild question - cully - 13-01-2014 don't cost cut when bulding an engine it will only bite you in the arse in the long run RE: Engine Rebuild question - jammapic - 13-01-2014 Not on an XUD - but used Total Seal rings when I did my GTi-6. http://www.totalseal.com/ JP RE: Engine Rebuild question - zx_volcane - 13-01-2014 A ratio is ratio, doesn't have a unit RE: Engine Rebuild question - SonnyRoby - 13-01-2014 Ok. 26 bar on 2 pistons and 27 bar on the other two. Is is ok or change the piston rings? RE: Engine Rebuild question - zx_volcane - 13-01-2014 compression @ 26bar sounds good to me RE: Engine Rebuild question - powerandtorque - 13-01-2014 Again like Jammapic it's not XUD's specific experience, but I've always found a good quality aftermarket piston ring set is fine. On the petrol XU rebuilds I've carried out I've used Federal-Mogul rings which are readily available and typically much cheaper than OE. |
