Clutch bite point - Daniel306 - 01-03-2012 just bought a 02 Hdi estate and the clutch is biting about 10mm off the floor, not sure if the clutch is new or on its way out, or if i should just change the cable? its the first Hdi iv owned Re: Clutch bite point - Toms306 - 01-03-2012 A low bite is better than a high one. ![]() Re: Clutch bite point - Jake - 01-03-2012 Just had my clutch changed, Mine was literally on the floor before it was biting. Not sure if just changing the cable will help .. Are they not auto adjusting ? Re: Clutch bite point - Daniel306 - 01-03-2012 just gave it a test, it would rather stall than slip, its like the self adjuster has not reset after a new clutch, is it possible to manually push the ratchet back in? Re: Clutch bite point - Tom - 01-03-2012 I heard that stamping on the pedal can sometimes sort the adjuster :/ i wouldnt try it til its been confirmed though haha Re: Clutch bite point - Jake - 02-03-2012 Also heard that if you spray a bit of wd40 onto the cable it will work it's way up to the ratchet it helps with the problem. Again not confirmed but something to look into. Re: Clutch bite point - mark_airey - 02-03-2012 should fit a new cable with a new clutch ![]() a few hard stamps on the pedal might help but I doubt it will in this instance! Re: Clutch bite point - Midnightclub - 02-03-2012 Few hard stamps will make it tighter! If you push it down then let go of the pedal so it springs back a few times, that'll loosen up the cable and then it'll auto adjust once you start driving Re: Clutch bite point - Welshy_Pete - 02-03-2012 Toms306 Wrote:A low bite is better than a high one. Thats good news mine comes up 1/4 so there must be loads left. ![]() ![]() |
