Turbo swap Newbie. - Ceri - 22-11-2013 Hiya, It appears i may have to swap the turbo on the 306. Never done one before. Total newbie to the whole diesel thing. Is there anything specific i should be wary of in this process? Any hints and tips would be very much appreciated. RE: Turbo swap Newbie. - Jimbo - 22-11-2013 Put a jack under the sump Take the drivers side engine mount off Lower the jack this will tilt the engine forward giving access to the inlet manifold and turbo. Its not too bad Cheers james RE: Turbo swap Newbie. - silverzx - 22-11-2013 You could always watch Darrens video on YouTube a couple of times to get a jist for it. RE: Turbo swap Newbie. - karl1989 - 22-11-2013 Rubber o ring for the fuel line. We're u based? RE: Turbo swap Newbie. - Ceri - 22-11-2013 Cheers James, Silverzx, do you happen to have a link you can post to the vid? that would be ace! Karl, I'm in South Wales. Thanks for the tips. x RE: Turbo swap Newbie. - silverzx - 22-11-2013 The exhaust studs are always the biggest ball ache I find. http://www.darrenjlobb.co.uk/home/xud-turbo-change Feel free to give me/Darren reputation. RE: Turbo swap Newbie. - Tom - 22-11-2013 When you lower the engine grab the inlet and pull engine forward to get more room! RE: Turbo swap Newbie. - londondan86 - 22-11-2013 Be liberal with wd40 on the exhaust/inlet bolts. I've not had an issue myself but read a few times where people have snapped and/or rounded them Also disconnect exhaust from the top of the downpipe first as when the engine is pulled forward it will strain the joint making them harder to undo - Again plenty of wd40. What turbo is going back on? If its off, it may be a good time for an upgrade...... RE: Turbo swap Newbie. - Ceri - 22-11-2013 Can't afford to upgrade at the minute. So it'll just be a standard. It's just done the classic "running on it's own oil" thing where it revs high.. that's gotta be the turbo oil seals hasn't it? RE: Turbo swap Newbie. - londondan86 - 22-11-2013 Yea, more than likely. May be worth just checking the breather pipes first but I think your probably right. RE: Turbo swap Newbie. - Seb_Ryan - 22-11-2013 Ceri where abouts in south wales? Im in np44 if u need hand/me to do it RE: Turbo swap Newbie. - Danny2009 - 22-11-2013 If it's been running on its own oil make sure you clean the oil out of the intercooler and inlet RE: Turbo swap Newbie. - Ceri - 22-11-2013 It was terrifying really!! like a thing possessed!
