XUD Clutch In HDI? - RhysBoost - 10-07-2013

Basically as per title, will a xud clutch work in a hdi box? been offered a xud paddle?

RE: XUD Clutch In HDI? - Midnightclub - 10-07-2013

It will work yes, you need to nick a few bits from an XUD gearbox to change it from a push to a pull type mechanism though

RE: XUD Clutch In HDI? - RhysBoost - 10-07-2013

Would you be nice enough to give me a list of what i need?

RE: XUD Clutch In HDI? - Midnightclub - 10-07-2013

Sorry mate, cannot remember off the top of my head I'm afraid, sure someone else will be along shortly though

RE: XUD Clutch In HDI? - RhysBoost - 10-07-2013

Okay bud no problemo! would it be easier to just go xud box?

RE: XUD Clutch In HDI? - Midnightclub - 10-07-2013

Depends what you're after really, if you did swap to a XUD box it would make it a bit revvier as the ratios are longer on a HDi gearbox..

RE: XUD Clutch In HDI? - RhysBoost - 10-07-2013

& iirc that's just a straight swap no?

RE: XUD Clutch In HDI? - Ruan - 10-07-2013

Hdi is push clutch, xud is pull...

You have to convert between the two, so you need a 2.0 petrol flywheel as they have the reluctor ring needed for a HDi but are pull style... You also need the fork out of any pull style clutch gearbox...

RE: XUD Clutch In HDI? - Midnightclub - 10-07-2013

No, you'd need the flywheel from a GTi6 too iirc

EDIT: What he said ^^

RE: XUD Clutch In HDI? - Dum-Dum - 10-07-2013

Yep as ruan says you need

Flywheel off an XSi/GTi6
The fork and arm through the gearbox
DT Clutch cable
Cable bracket for the gearbox
New Flywheel bolts

Plus obviously the clutch and the release bearing.

Its an easy enough swap but you wont be able to lock the flywheel to do a cambelt change as the petrol flywheel dosent have the locking hole.
