Eccentric driveshaft intermediate bearing bolts - 306Puggy - 06-07-2013

From what I can tell, as long as the driveshaft is in the hub, these bolts don't really do anything:

I've been undoing them for the last hour with a stubby 11mm spanner. If someone where to mislay them or simply forget to put them back would it be flagged up on MOT?

You definitely need them back in, and done up tight

As in, they won't rotate 360 degrees? Yes, I do but sometimes I find that the tap is the wrong way round because when I was tightening the nut it jumped out and then I have to untighten them and retighten them all again which is a pain. Which was why I was wondering if it was possible to get rid of them but I guess not. A "long" nut such as this one might be a nice thing to get next time though:

Or just use a deep socket or rachet spanner Wink

fiddly job.

Finger on the back so it sits in its seat, keep at it. itsa long thread...

but its there for a reason

RE: Eccentric driveshaft intermediate bearing bolts - 306Puggy - 06-07-2013

Well I tightened them up in the end. If they can't rotate 360 degrees then does that mean they are seated? Just realised I can't see shit when the driveshaft bearing is in the way!
