Id say on the 1.4 its 1 man job. Just maje sure you fit new cam belt water pump while your at it. Also get the head skinned and compression tested.

But what would I know I sold my 1.4 when head gasket went lol

ohhh its drivable lol but no money for fuel however lol....

you tell me if this sounds like a head gasket these are the symptoms i have
1 light blue smoke from exhaust on start up and rev nothing on running well nothing i can see
2 oil seeping from exhaust manifold
that is it i cant see how that could be a head gasket even my spark plugs still look brand new alittle brown ring round the glass part that to me says they have run there course the only other thing i can think it is.is the valve seals on 1 and 3 have gone or my piston rings are going i dont know i dont wanna spend a shed load on a gasket and the effort of fitting it if its not going to cure it i supose i should start with the small things first ey lol

Could be a number of things.

Either a head gasket, or a valve stem seal or oil ring on a piston are the first that i would be looking into.

What engine is it?
