EGT average temps - Ricky - 23-01-2013 For people with EGT gauges, what EGT's do you get, after a quick blast through second and 3rd? Just interested to know really, I don't think my 9mm is anywhere near maxed, and a quick blast through 2nd and 3rd will see 600+ very quickly. Will be interested to see what people get, especially on pumps on the edge of running away ![]() RE: EGT average temps - Ruan - 23-01-2013 That's pretty normal, when blasting mine I could easily see 850c on a warm day, keep going and you could see 900+... RE: EGT average temps - ozonehostile - 23-01-2013 il be installing my egt gauge soon, im interested, what temperature should you try avoiding? i.e. when does damage to the head start to occur? RE: EGT average temps - 4WayDiablo - 23-01-2013 900+ from what I've seen isn't good lol RE: EGT average temps - Ricky - 23-01-2013 I expect my little turbo will be a lump of molten aluminium with a lot of 900 degree runs! RE: EGT average temps - Dave - 24-01-2013 long hard haul, mine sees just over 900, but a thrash through 2nd and 3rd will only see about 700... its when its loaded up in 5th for ages it hangs high for me... RE: EGT average temps - londondan86 - 04-08-2014 Thread revival alert!!! Had a "spirited" drive to work this morning and thought I would post the results. EGT Temp before toe down (xud warm up) - ~ 200*C Blast through second/third - quicly ran up to ~ 650*C Sustained run in 5th foot hard down - ~ peaked at 850*C Motorway cruise speed - returned to ~ 250*C Oil pressure Sits around 60psi while idling cold Drops to 35psi idling warm Peaks around 70psi when under heavy load Boost Full load pre charger 18Psi Full load post charger 30psi+ Idle 7psi pre charger ----> WIN!!!!! Water temp Idle once warm ~ 75* Full load - Gets to 90* rather quick!!! Cruising - Returns to ~80* I will update this again once I get my oil temp gauge working RE: EGT average temps - r3k1355 - 04-08-2014 Have you got your EGT sensor installed before or after the Turbo?? RE: EGT average temps - londondan86 - 04-08-2014 Pre turbo mate RE: EGT average temps - JamesPT - 04-08-2014 Good Info, I'm getting my EGT-Probe installed this week!.. Finally it will stop reading Outside Air temps! ![]() RE: EGT average temps - Ruan - 04-08-2014 For anyone else reading this - absolutely zero point in having a sensor post turbo. It doesn't respond fast enough to the temperature changes and is a good few hundred degrees below what the turbocharger is seeing - let alone the exhaust valves and cylinder head. Might as well lick your finger and hold it in the breeze outside for the good one post turbo will do. |
