RE: SRowell's Stage 1 Diablo HDi Estate - Jonny81191 - 05-10-2013 Looking good mate, apart from your use of those hoops as axle stand points. It's much safer to use the subframe or jack up on the subframe and use the sills for the stands. ![]() RE: SRowell's Stage 1 Diablo HDi Estate - puglove - 05-10-2013 you dodgy fucker sam. not a good place to put axel stands :/ RE: SRowell's Stage 1 Diablo HDi Estate - Eeyore - 06-10-2013 (05-10-2013, 08:40 AM)Jonny81191 Wrote: Looking good mate, apart from your use of those hoops as axle stand points. I did think of putting them under the sub-frame but I thought the hoops were there for axle stand use. Cheers for the heads up though. I put the wheels under the car too and left the jack under too so lots of support apart from my face! RE: SRowell's Stage 1 Diablo HDi Estate - Eeyore - 06-10-2013 So this weekend I went to the Mighty Car Mods meet. Here is me and Marty to prove it happened. It was an amazing meet with a wide variety of cars and the museum had some really special cars in it too. I got my mighty car mods shirt and lanyard and a few stickers. Marty wasnt impressed with my Austtraaliiannn accent but gave me a sticker a consolation prize lol. The car got a few comments and a few pictures have appeared on facebook, flickr and photo bucket too! ![]() ![]() ![]() Also this appeared on my news feed from pugfest. Pretty cool shot! ![]() And Ill just leave this here too ![]() ![]() RE: SRowell's Stage 1 Diablo HDi Estate - Dum-Dum - 07-10-2013 (06-10-2013, 10:09 PM)SRowell Wrote: Also this appeared on my news feed from pugfest. I swear these pugfest official photographers arent very clued up when it comes to advertising! RE: SRowell's Stage 1 Diablo HDi Estate - Eeyore - 11-10-2013 Hydrolocked! Waited 30 minutes for my dad to arrive and tow me home. Wont have a chance to look at it for a few days but I may be back in the 1.8 if its ruined! RE: SRowell's Stage 1 Diablo HDi Estate - Tom - 11-10-2013 Oh shit. RE: SRowell's Stage 1 Diablo HDi Estate - Carlos182 - 11-10-2013 Bugga. Sell me the buckets? /vulture RE: SRowell's Stage 1 Diablo HDi Estate - Eeyore - 11-10-2013 Nothing is for sale! If its buggered then it will all be going in the other car! RE: SRowell's Stage 1 Diablo HDi Estate - Ricky - 11-10-2013 You go through a flood or something? RE: SRowell's Stage 1 Diablo HDi Estate - Arron - 11-10-2013 Was that with the stock air filter housing? RE: SRowell's Stage 1 Diablo HDi Estate - Eeyore - 11-10-2013 (11-10-2013, 07:51 PM)Arron Wrote: Was that with the stock air filter housing? yep but without the intake pipe going to the grille. I swapped slam panels and the bolts were rusted in so I couldnt fit it :'( RE: SRowell's Stage 1 Diablo HDi Estate - Eeyore - 14-10-2013 Right. This is all working now! Yay! Turns out it didnt get any water in the engine. Not starting with the air filter dripping and chronic banging? Turns out fuel lines had pulled out from under the car and two exhaust mounts had come off causing it to smash on the subframe. Fuel lines reattached and exhaust remounted and its all working now. ![]() Just waiting for my special delivery now and hopefully I will have something good to show you all later today! RE: SRowell's Stage 1 Diablo HDi Estate - Piggy - 14-10-2013 a puddle caused all that?! RE: SRowell's Stage 1 Diablo HDi Estate - Eeyore - 14-10-2013 (14-10-2013, 09:34 AM)Piggy Wrote: a puddle caused all that?! Somebody was doing 40mph down a long but bumpy straight. I overtook them at about 50. Only a few puddles but maybe there was something i didnt see. There was a branch stuck under the exhaust so Maybe there was more of it which pulled out the lines. RE: SRowell's Stage 1 Diablo HDi Estate - Eeyore - 14-10-2013 Surprise! Finally these bad boys arrived! ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Need to get some spacers up at the front as the gti6 brakes wont fit under them. Fondmetal 4000 ET11 15x7J RE: SRowell's Stage 1 Diablo HDi Estate - WiNgNuTz - 14-10-2013 Hmm....im gonna be honest and say im not sure on those mate. Look a bit small/pikey (i know they're anything BUT pikey, before i get lynched for that comment! ![]() ![]() RE: SRowell's Stage 1 Diablo HDi Estate - Tom - 14-10-2013 You need lows. RE: SRowell's Stage 1 Diablo HDi Estate - WiNgNuTz - 14-10-2013 He has lows, what he really needs is to take the jack out from under the car, but im assuming thats only there to get a pic of the wheels on the front, as they dont fit over the brakes. ![]() RE: SRowell's Stage 1 Diablo HDi Estate - Eeyore - 14-10-2013 (14-10-2013, 01:30 PM)WiNgNuTz Wrote: He has lows, what he really needs is to take the jack out from under the car, but im assuming thats only there to get a pic of the wheels on the front, as they dont fit over the brakes. yep. The fondmetals wont fit over the brakes so I had to leave it on the jack. Its lowered 60mm all round. Back is a bit higher as I use the car for towing. RE: SRowell's Stage 1 Diablo HDi Estate - Dum-Dum - 14-10-2013 Jakes ones? They need a refurb but they have survived well! RE: SRowell's Stage 1 Diablo HDi Estate - 1616six - 14-10-2013 I dont like them im afraid ![]() they look too early 90s, only a slammed ph1 can pull them off! RE: SRowell's Stage 1 Diablo HDi Estate - Eeyore - 14-10-2013 Right ive found loads of photos from updates i never made! Bucket seats when they first went in. Look the same now but they are bolted in properly. H frames ontop of the standard sliders arent actually too high and are low enough! ![]() I smoothed the estate key trim. Looked perfect but over time the key hole is starting to show again. Will need to sand it down again and respray! ![]() ![]() and lowering. Kept this one as a bit of a secret before pugfest. Anyway that was done at KrisBs. It took about 5 hours to do. We started at 8pm and finished at 1am! ![]() ![]() ![]() I wanted to fit aftermarket rear speakers and wanted them quick so got some from halfords. 5x7 so should fit... ![]() obviously not! ![]() ![]() so some angle grinding happened! ![]() and then they were in! ![]() At the same time I added lots of silentcoat to the boot lid and put all of the cables on the inside of the boot lid instead of cable tied to the outside. Also Dewipered but I dont have any pictures of that! End of ancient update! RE: SRowell's Stage 1 Diablo HDi Estate - ginge191 - 14-10-2013 Smart audio install, like it! D: smart audio install? sarcasm much? RE: SRowell's Stage 1 Diablo HDi Estate - me-tm - 15-10-2013 My estate will never look as good as this. It's far too scabby, lol. I'm tempted to go down the route of some GTI front shocks and some lowering springs though. How does the key trim on the tailgate come off? Mine's a bit scabby, I'm tempted to wrap it with something. It looks tidy in photos but underneath is all crash damaged and the beam is cambering in as well! Ok the key trim on the boot lid is secured with two bolts on the inside of the lid. To get to those you will need to remove the big plastic panel. It has lots of torx screws all the way around the outside and has a few clips too. Just be careful and dont pull it too much! |
