Best I got from my HDI was 63.1mpg.

I will challenge any GTI6 owners to beat me on mpg over a 200mile run with a bit of play the Celica did me a 48.1mpg not bad for a 16 year old N/A car with 176bhp Smile

I think the way the scangauge calculates mpg is inaccurate in the real world, as it's results don't agree with extensive testing.

That's a bloody good result from a petty, Mooey, got some talent there matey. Wink

Hate to burst your bubble but its 167 bhp!
Best i have had out of the 6 was 40mpg sitting at 60 on the motorway with a passenger and a boot full of stuff. Best i had in the 1.8 was about 35 but i think that because when at 70, that sat about 300rpm higher than the 6.

So...do I win? - Phil B - 28-10-2012

Calculated 40mpg in the 6 heading up the m6 (and backroads)110miles to Blackpool driving to the pub meet drivin golden mile in busy light traffic meeting up to go, racing a ph2 's16' conversion down the 55 then driving back home.... So could've been more minus blackpool and trash
Prob won't get it now with itb's

Sorry to sound stupid but you have lost me there. What's 167bhp?
I know the GTI is. Did you mean the celica?

The Celica has VVTi - that's where you're getting so much better efficiency out of it...

Remember the GTi6 is the most powerful 2.0 NA without any VVL/VVT, the only one that MIGHT be is one of the MR2 3S-GEs which has 170HP apparently, but I've a feeling that's actually in PS, so it's 166bhp in actuality... I've had a calculated 38.4mpg out of mine on the way to Cornwall, probably could have gotten more, but was driving at about 65 and had a small hoon at the end... So probably did about 40 average on the actual way down...

I find it's all about keeping the speed constant and ensuring you're not loading up hills, leave it slow down, but make sure you use the downhills to your advantage...

Dude my car has a 1996 3SGE engine and as above No VVL/VVT and was rolled a 176.5bhp (Going to get it done again soon) Not all roads are the same.

As for mpg 60-65mph at night no stopping/slowing down helped this.
