RE: My GT20s HDi Estate - jammapic - 01-02-2013 What I was getting at Ruan, is it's very easy to set it so that it never closes fully so you lose spool.... RE: My GT20s HDi Estate - Jonny81191 - 14-02-2013 Well as the car is off the road with head issues at the moment, I've started on my interior, just done one of the back seat bases to begin with, but it's all in bits now and the new fabric should arrive at work tomorrow, so with any luck I should be able to sew it up at lunchtime and get some pictures of it fitted tomorrow evening ![]() RE: My GT20s HDi Estate - jammapic - 14-02-2013 head issues? Lovely looking car bud, did you get that turbo mapped in before it died? I get pissed of sowing my name in my socks Lol!! RE: My GT20s HDi Estate - Jonny81191 - 15-02-2013 Haha basically yeah. I work at my dads company. We make rucksacks and outdoor equipment, bit of mountain rescue and military stuff too. RE: My GT20s HDi Estate - Niall - 15-02-2013 Jonny if this looks good, i will have some work for you! RE: My GT20s HDi Estate - C2K - 15-02-2013 Interesting seats, should look good. Get the car running though! :p RE: My GT20s HDi Estate - Jonny81191 - 15-02-2013 (15-02-2013, 08:32 PM)Niall Wrote: Jonny if this looks good, i will have some work for you! Thought you might ![]() RE: My GT20s HDi Estate - C2K - 18-02-2013 It's a nice low mileage example that you've got there Jonny. Didn't realise this was DumDum's time warp car for a short while. Glad he didn't reverse this one into a post though. I Often wonder why some people buy cars and don't use them. RE: My GT20s HDi Estate - jammapic - 18-02-2013 Hasn't DumDum owned nearly every car on here at some point? ![]() RE: My GT20s HDi Estate - C2K - 18-02-2013 That much is true, yes! Does that make this one of the lucky few which has survived? ![]() RE: My GT20s HDi Estate - Jonny81191 - 18-02-2013 ![]() RE: My GT20s HDi Estate - Jonny81191 - 25-02-2013 Bolted on another head today, just a few things to finish tomorrow evening and I should be able to start her up. If it's still broken I think I'll cry. RE: My GT20s HDi Estate - Dum-Dum - 25-02-2013 To go back a week or 2 in posts about the wastegate boost issue... ....This is why External Wastegate!!! RE: My GT20s HDi Estate - Just Sean - 25-02-2013 Screamer pipe!!! /obligatery post! ![]() RE: My GT20s HDi Estate - Jonny81191 - 01-03-2013 She lives again!!! So straight back to the quest for powaaaah, I'm on the hunt for some low mileage injectors. Mine are tapping like fook. Like really tapping. Badly. Almost as bad as Ed's (or is it Scott's) GTi. Might get round to stripping down the old head this weekend, see what's wrong with it. Also I fixed my wastegate issue while the turbo was off, stuck a bike pump on the actuator line and set up the wastegate properly, turns out that the MBC I had was useless and broken. Makes about 19 psi now, which is completely clean on boost ![]() RE: My GT20s HDi Estate - Poodle - 02-03-2013 Amazing! Let us know what you find in the head mate, itching to know what's going on with that. RE: My GT20s HDi Estate - lolsteve - 02-03-2013 Don't push it too hard, want you to make it to the yorkshire meet ![]() RE: My GT20s HDi Estate - C2K - 02-03-2013 Hasn't your car only done like 40K? Mine didn't start tapping til after the double ton. RE: My GT20s HDi Estate - Ruan - 02-03-2013 Hm, I was thinking this^^ Unless it's either age related, or power related? RE: My GT20s HDi Estate - Jonny81191 - 02-03-2013 (02-03-2013, 02:47 PM)Ruan Wrote: Hm, I was thinking this^^ I think 1800 bar and lots of abuse may have something to do with it ![]() RE: My GT20s HDi Estate - Jonny81191 - 23-04-2013 So I went to Europe and this happened.. Basically, in a tunnel in Lyon, the aux belt let go at 5k, and went into the cambelt, round the bottom pulley and caused the belt to slip several teeth, mashing the valves into the pistons. Broke half of the rockers, so we attempted to get it running on 2 cylinders, which failed ![]() So I've finally got the beast back home via an epic road trip in a flatbed to go and get it back into the UK (Big thanks to Vaughan and Fooby, top lads!), then used my AA relay to get me back from Fooby's. New engine is going to be picked up this weekend, and will be fitted on the bank holiday weekend. Then, once I've rebuilt the current engine as a spare, we'll see just how much fuel I can get in before something melts ![]() RE: My Broken GT20s HDi Estate - Jonny81191 - 23-04-2013 Also from the Germany trip, a shot of me on the Nurburgring ![]() RE: Jonny's (and Vaughans) Broken GT20s HDi Estate - Dum-Dum - 25-04-2013 I think you need to work out how to make solid lifters first before pushing more |
