Re: Stanced XUD estate - Seid' - 25-03-2012

Stanced XUD estate - Matt - 25-03-2012

That's me!!! And that combo was win Big Grin

Re: Stanced XUD estate - declantg - 25-03-2012

I can see this becoming one of the nicer 306's on here Big Grin

Re: Stanced XUD estate - cwspellowe - 30-03-2012

Remember this rather knackered looking rear bumper?

Here's what happened to it today. Few stages missed out in the pics but it's now sat in primer waiting for paint. Epic fail on my part though, didn't realise the rear fog light was the o/s reflector in the bumper so I now need to find somewhere to fit a foglight. Doh.

Fired some paint on the centre caps too after experimenting with different colours. Red ftmfw though.

Ooh and more red things! Some nice red conduit for the engine bay, was only £12 for a 10m kit off eBay, comes with a variety of sizes and I only used half of it

So yeah. Nice to have made some progress again after working 8 of the last 9 days!

Stanced XUD estate - Matt - 30-03-2012

I'll be interested to see what the red covers look like when on, only ever seen Blue on chavy saxos lol

Re: Stanced XUD estate - mark_airey - 30-03-2012

Yey progress

lol @ the bumper related failure though..................

Looking good, I got my front one painted last weekend ninja

Re: Stanced XUD estate - cwspellowe - 30-03-2012

I'm impressed with the high build primer I used tbh, came out like spray putty which is illegal now, can't get it anywhere. That shit was like P40 in a spray gun though, could fill anything with it! Used Upol High Build #5 for the rear bumper. Tempted to red suede trim my spare mirror caps for FCS..

Re: Stanced XUD estate - mark_airey - 30-03-2012

^^ Do it.................. Mirror caps will look great IMO Smile

Re: Stanced XUD estate - Scott - 30-03-2012

You'll need to have two sets though, they'll get covered in grime!

Re: Stanced XUD estate - cwspellowe - 30-03-2012

Scott am going to have a white set of rub strips and mirror caps for everyday use, and a set of red suede ones for shows

Re: Stanced XUD estate - mark_airey - 30-03-2012

oh yeah, but for the show (which is what I read it as) they would look epic matching the interior Big Grin

Edit- dammit, i have written it out now...............lol

Re: Stanced XUD estate - Scott - 30-03-2012

Nice one bud, that sounds like a good plan! Reckon you'll have it all done in time for FCS? whistle

Re: Stanced XUD estate - cwspellowe - 30-03-2012

Yeah, tbh only needs an engine fitting now. Suspension is all spot on, needs brake lines which don't take long, and that's pretty much it. Considering I have three days off a week it should be ready well in advance. Only hard bit is now getting an engine, the one Gav has for me is ready to fit but he's popped his shoulder so can't drive it up to me, thinking of getting it up on a pallet but not sure how i'd fit it myself

Re: Stanced XUD estate - Connor - 31-03-2012

Should have got some red electrical tape lol

Re: Stanced XUD estate - cwspellowe - 31-03-2012

I have a rainbow of electrical tape, preferred black though as the red was a different shade

Re: Stanced XUD estate - Jenkosowls - 31-03-2012

any more pics of the bumper looks like it going to be a great addition if its how i think its going to look

Re: Stanced XUD estate - cwspellowe - 01-04-2012

Bit more of an update, let's start with the rear bumper. I've decided after my fog light related fail that i'll be putting an MX5 style fog light where the tow hook is, and throwing the tow hook in the bin. Was going to fit a red tow strap but couldn't be arsed with the hassle of mounting it so it wouldn't rip off the bumper if it was ever used.

Filler primer on and being smoothed:

Then after more primer, some gloss being applied

And outside drying

Not bad for a rattle can job, my smoothing skills are improving anyway! It's not perfect but who cares?

Got the centre caps polished up to an acceptable standard too, Halfords rattle cans are notoriously difficult to get a good finish from the can so a quick blast with 800, 1200, 1500, G6 and G10 followed by a top coat of fk1000p has them looking nice and shiny, can really see the pearlescence in some of these pics on the edge of the spokes too, me likey

And here's some shots of the car as it is. With regards to the rear, a before shot:

And after:

And a bit of edging around the slam panel to stop stuff scratching it. Just cut up the window seals from the gti6 and bodged them on lmao

That is all for today. Got some more bits on the way next week though, namely number plate surrounds, tinting film and more fabric Smile

Stanced XUD estate - Eskiiboi - 01-04-2012

I like your pink bits Wink

Amazing build! Shame it's a hearse but beggars can't be choosers haha

Fancy cleaning my car for me? I'll pay in German Haribo.

Re: Stanced XUD estate - cwspellowe - 01-04-2012
