I've been on similar things years ago. I usually find the amount of wheel time relative to the amount of money you are paying is very limited. 9.8 miles in a GTR for £175 Confused You could have that, or a whole trackday in your own car with some instruction thrown in for the same money.

Whole experience lasts just 2hrs 15mins?

Seems expensive. There are better, less comercialised options out there....
Disclaimer: The above is not to be taken to heart and is probably a joke, grow up you big girl.

I got a full day package that I have yet to use, waiting for better weather. Looking forward to having a hoon in a car that I don't have to buy tyres for, I've done trackdays in my own cars and all your thinking when your on the track is how much fuel youve used and tyre wear haha.
oh and the drive home of shame when you go off and hit the barrier......

But you can't hoon the cars anyway afaik, theres an instructor sitting with you making sure you dont get anywhere near the limiter.

It wouldn't be my kinda thing tbh, and seems so expensive for what it is. Another option for your 21st (which I turned down for 18, 19 and 20 so far) is a private number plate, lasts a lot longer for a start..... But again not my kinda thing as it seems like a lot of money for what it is.

I've been given the option of one of these for Xmas. I want to do a fast car trackday but then as has been said the time behind the wheel is very limited!
Does anyone have any recommendations of companies they have used, I've heard good things about Mercedes World?

Also I might consider a skid pan day... could be useful with RWD Wink

It depends on the instructor and how fast he thinks you are capable of going

I couldn't go on one. I'd enjoy it too much and spend the rest of my life in debt after getting a GT-R

I would do the 1 that's £85. It really about the experience of driving the car and driving round silverstone!

Thats five and a half miles in the GTR...about 5 minutes driving then lol. I see your reason for wanting to do it...but I just think won't feel like you've got a lot for your money and be a bit disappointed afterwards. I know I would.

This!!!

I did one a few years ago in Mini Cooper, was out on track with Ferrari , Astons and Lamborghini, and managed to overtake all of them.
It's all down to how well the instructor thinks you can drive and what your abilities are!!!

Then I did a day thru work at Mercedes Benz world , was told by the chief instructor I could have a job there teaching others and taking people out on Laps if I wanted!!!

Just a pity it's a 200 mile a day commute!!!

Have also done a rally school which I found to be far brtter

I can understand what your point is but its just the experience. I know it's a waste of money when you look at what you get but we all waste money over time and wish we hadn't don't things but I do think it would be 5 of the best minutes of my life lol.

I am being a bit put off by some of you saying that your not allowed to give it some welly though

Best place is Bedford with Mr Palmer, A instructors nightmare but you should have a good day there. Silverstone's good but as said you are kept under control, I have friends of mine who work in all fields at all the circuits in the country and the Rallying I would say for a experience day is one of the better ones, Mind you won;t drive anything nice other than a muddy rally car

for that money you could do a track day with your own car and have an instructor in with you too. the rallying experince would be the best for me. Knock hill does that up here,

When I did the rally experience the instructors were telling me to go faster, though they did tell me off a couple of times for late braking lol
I've still got the certificate somewhere but the ex wife destroyed the photos my mate took Sad
I can still remember the day and it still makes me smile after 12 years Smile

I got one of these gifts off our lass for Xmas aswell.

I get to choice from a lambo, Ferrari, Aston db9 and an Audi r8.

It doesn't mention which lambo or Ferrari, but I bet it's a gallardo or a 430/360

I might choose the lambo???

I did the super car expereince at thruxton. £300 odd if you pay but we did it entirely on tesco vouchers.

Its 3 people and an instructor in a mazda 3 sporty thing for three laps to show you around the track.
Then its you driving with an instructor in a porsche cayman for 3 laps.
Then its you driving again a ferrari 355 for 3 laps
and then 3 final laps driving a lamborghini gallardo spyder.

You also get a USB stick which they will plug into one car of your choice which records your laps and it gets put on a dvd for you afterwards.

Thats all proper foot to the floor stuff as well. Most of the instructors are ex racers so they are pretty epic. For example when I was in the lambo there was an aston ragging it and he told me to go foot to the floor and we overtook it no problem! Even the mazda driver was rapid! They also have single seater cars you take out on your own with a radio!

Then Tiff Needell was there and its £150 for 3 laps as a passenger with him drifting an M3. Bloody epic drifting with loads of people taking photos! Thats also fully recorded! Big Grin

So yes! Id recommend Thruxston! Its one of the fastest tracks so you really can put your foot down! There are loads of nice cars just lying around all day! They get new cars in all the time too. It is expensive but bare in mind i did this on tesco vouchers alone!

That looks awesome! Are the tesco vouchers just face value or can you multiple them like you can for theme parks is you know what I mean
