306 gbox into 205 problems

myself and my friend have swapped a dturbo engine into a 205

the small selectors on the box wont line up with the one on the car,do most people take the small selctor arm off the 205 box and put it on the 306 box


for the time been we have bent the selector arm that goes from the gear stick to the bay,which has allowed us to get the small linkage on

but the gear selection in the car is off line(1st gear has the gearstick near the passanger seat )

I swapped over the selector arms on mine. Easy job.

The 306 has got 3 links, the long one fits fine but the smaller one wont, if you remove the selector arm from the 205 box and put it on the 306 box it works fine, just dont push the shalft into the box when refitting it

Anyone else read this a glovebox?

I cut and re-welded the arm to shorten it on the gearbox. But yeah my gear selections are all over the place, just got used to it. Going to try a short shift when engine goes back in

I kind of came to the conclusion that we would have to change the selector arms,its going to be a pain with the 306 box in the car,is it just a matter of hitting the pins out with a punch?
