is this crank pulley?

alright guys, since i bought the HDI im convinced i hear a ticking at idle especially when cold. its not bad at all, I've heard way worse on HDI's, but my fanbelt is wearing on the outside and starting to fray.
Question is what calls this uneven wear? i dont want a bit to fray off and get caught somewhere it shouldnt lol

Probably caused by a knackered tensioner, or maybe a tired bearing in one of your pumps, best bet is to take the belt off and check them all by hand.
