Hi all, after grafting my old HDi mid-box back-box onto the cabriolet yesterday and finding that it sounded like a tank and was ridiculously restrictive (causing the center section to overheat) I want some advice on what to do for the exhaust.
I want something off the shelf ideally thats not too noisy (apart from at WOT) and thats cheap too.
Anyone got any ideas.
I was contemplating a sportex race tube center section with the standard back box.

On the 6 I had a straight though center and the standard 6 rear box, sounded nicer than the magnex I put on after it too.

Think Ive worked out why it felt down on power, AIT sensor wasnt (isnt) connected.
The wire isnt long enough so im gonna have to take the manifold off again and make sure the wires are long enough this time.
Induction kit on GTi6 manifold sound fapping epic. Went for a blat earlier (as much of a blat as i could with it feeling like a 1.6) and the inlet manifold was cold so Ive got the filter in the right place for no heat soak.

What was it like noise wise at idle and on the motorway?

Ahhh it's an enclosed kit, I had mine down there and was scared of water soak, may knock up an enclosed solution to mine though

Matt the filter is off ebay for sub £20. Its about the same size as Nialls K&N so should flow enough.
I am also scared of water soak but im gonna run some ducting back up and down the side of the rad for a cold air feed. The filter entrance is only a few inches higher than the bottom of the sump

Just thought of something your bit of hose pipe, the original has a one way valve in it, maybe thats causing your rev problem

I might try and make a enclosure for my k and n.
On and love the hose pipe. Don't bother with the proper pipe. The check valves pack up and just fill your inlet with oil. I'm fitting a catch tank next month.

I had a piper exhaust on the S16. Even with the maniflow mani and decat it wasn't too loud just driving normally. On cam however...

depends what kind of sound youre looking for, ive been reading into it and centre box muffles the higher pitched noises, and the back box does the lower pitched stuff. im thinking of home made decat and de-centre box for mine, using bits of an old DT exhaust ive got kicking about.
only thing being that the backbox being a cross flow (iirc) its fairly restrictive
if im stating preknown facts, feel free to ignore me ![Smile Smile](https://www.306oc.co.uk/forum/images/smilies/smile.png) , just my two cents

I have a straight through middle, made by a pikey, just box cut and slightly larger bit of pipe there, two ends slotted in and welded, with a big bore exhaust. Sounds porno, it's ridiculous really, so loud. Haha.

Think im gonna leave it till ive got the GTi6 Exhaust manifold and de-cat fitted to see how loud they are before I do anything else.
