Well as you all know i killed the hdi and was working takeaways again to save a lot of money for a vw bora or Audi a3.

Well last night after a long talk i got back with my ex girlfriend for good reasons!
When I was with her before and working at the takeaway it made me really depressed and put a lot of stress on me as I had to make sure my car was running perfect all the time!
Now I'm back with her I am leaving the takeaway which mean there's no way in hell I'm going save 4.5k.
Soooo.......

I'm buying a gti6.
So really i just wanna know the ins and outs, what to look for engine wise. I'm hoping to find one under 100k miles. I have around £1k to spend within the next month.

Don't buy one that ed has touched because it will be either shorter on one side or tap.

The one Chris is selling looks good for the money. When looking do listen for tapping (beware injectors are loud on these so don't get it confused). Tapping will get louder and faster with revs. Injector tap won't.

All basic stuff really. Try and get one with history of a cambelt recently. They should be done every 30k and a lot of people really don't like doing them!

Get it out of your system and go and buy something else. I've had mine since may and am getting rapidly bored of it. Needs a different engine! :p

From when i was looking you cant get one in a good colour with less than 100k for less than a grand, you can pick up niles and blazes for about £500 though

Cam belt is all important really. Oh and prepare for being raped on running costs, I spend about £400 a month on fuel alone.

£400? That's offensive!

I spend about £100 tops. And drive like I stole it.

And go to Scotland and Wales biking.

And mine sounds better Big Grin

Maybe so but I want something quick where I can forget about tuning and just enjoy. I don't so many miles anyway.

What about that one Chris_90 posted the other day?
That looked clean.

Anyway back to reality, MTFU and get a diesel!!!
A Hdi with the right mods will kill a GTI plus it won't cost you £400 a month in fuel! Lol

I don't wanna waste money on mods any more dude. I may still end up with another hdi. But i really don't know yet.
I wanna concentrate on other things in life for a while. I'm stuck in a job working part time earning just over £100 a week. After Christmas I wanna find something with much more hours.

You've got to think about insurance and running costs tho dude, gti's aren't really THAT quick is it worth the extra fuel etc for another 30bhp over stage 1 Hdi?
You really think you'll buy a GTI and leave it completely standard?
Yeah you prob won't be doing power mods as its £ra*e.99 per pony on a n/a petrol but you'll still mess around with it!

get something like a 1.6 MX5 if you want a "fun" car that's cheaper than a '6 to run

Having had a stage 1 and a 155bhp stage 2 HDi and then going to a 6'.. it is completely worth it and yes, they've got plenty of poke in standard form, handling mods should come before power mods anyway

People seem to forget how different 6's can be between eachother.. i've seen 2 6's on the same dyno, 1 was standard and the other had 'stage 1' mods (de-cat, exhaust, air filter etc..) standard one made 173bhp and the modified one made 163bhp...

It depends if mpg matters really. I might be getting the bus to work starting soon, if that's the case then I'm not gonna worry about mpg if I'm only driving on evenings and weekends...

Gti6>hdi

After having both, hdi may be "as quick" as a '6 with a few mods,
The '6 is way more fun to drive, better acceleration, doesn't sound like a tractor on full chat,
Doesn't run on satans fuel, pops bangs and flames, and so much bwarp to be had.

f*ck hdis anyday if the week
