When the headlight is in the oven does it go lense up or horizontally like it would be when in the car?

Looks a good job that gareth7, Rear tints aren't too much either!
Just lay them flat as they would be on the car jay8086, probably the only way you'll get them in the oven anyway!
Thanks oil-burner......my first attempt at the rear clusters ended up a little........illegal looking and dangerous when I test fitted them and had a look at the lights when they were switched on. It was a case of 'oh shit, best get the thinners out and start again' lol

Can I ask what sealant people are using to re-seal them? I have some black all-purpose all-weather sealant from B&Q which was meant for something else - will this do the trick?

You did very well if you managed valeos with a heatgun mate, you sure theyre not depos?
Yeah makes a massive difference, I love mine! 
Got Lucas on them either way result
I used to do an adjuster replacement service and lens refurb service for bmw Angel eyes so heat gun is the best method for not causing any damage if i am honest

Possibly so but honestly valeos are stuck like shit to a blanket, even in the oven you only have a small bracket of time to get them open in one go. Plus if you're careful you wont damage them anyway, mine are bang on.

That's right. Depo fitment is slightly off where it meets the wing.

You can use a heat gun to open them, ive heard you can even do it with a good hair drier.!!
Tbh id have a go with the valeo and if you get on ok look for another instead of having one of each.

Look on the lens where the bonnet would over lap on the top of the light......it'll say Valeo in small writing.

Rubbish picture but hey
Yeah i managed them with a heat gun. Used to refurb BMW e39 headlights, replacing the adjusters you needed to crack them open to acess them. and the heat gun method is something that i used all the time but the oven method is also a good one next step is to go over the lenses with 1000, then 1500, and finally a 2000 grit sandpaper to make them all nice and new |
