Aux Belt
#1
I've got a sqeaking/chirping noise coming from next to the alternator, after abit of searching i've narrowed it down to being the AUX Belt?? and it seems to be quite common on these, i've never tackled fitting one before, is of any real difficulty?? or anything else it could be?

Cheers

Nothing too hard mate... Just slacken the pre tensioner and remove the old one, take a note (drawing) off the route that it takes and replace....

You may aswell replace the bottom pulley while your thier as they are common to failure too...

You say chirping noise, that's generally more related to a worn pulley, tensioner or power steering pump bearing. Worn aux belts usually make a continuous squealing noise when you first start the car in the morning, or after driving through a big puddle for example. I would say it's worth rotating all the pulleys and tensioners by hand while the belt is off to make sure all of them rotate freely and there's no feeling of stiction/graunching in the bearings.
