Heat soak TMIC and filter size. Help please.
#1
So the car is a 306 sedan from 96. xud7 engine with 9mm bosch, turned lda pin, k14 at 0.9-1bar, xud9 gearbox, straight through exhaust. Made a hood scoop but it looks like is inefficient. When cold it reaches around 1 bar of boost. After it get's warm and start to get rough with it the boost crashes to around 0.4-0.5 bars. The turbo runs defiltered so warm air from the engine.

Is there any change except fmic to reduce heat soak?

The next thing i has thinking was if i can fit a small air filter (motorcycle or for horizantal carburators) direct to the turbo. Are those filter permisive enough? What size is the inlet on a k14?

Will attach some pictures with the hood scoop.

have you got the bonnet lining for the topmount?

also run a cold air feed from the grill to inlet like it was designed to. if you've got all the air tubing use it

Water injection should do the trick

This isnt right, your boost shouldnt halve when its hot, those kind of boost pressures from a K14 shouldnt really cause severe heatsoak anyway. Does it black smoke on boost when it does this?

How come it's got an XUD7 in? Never knew they had them in 306. Also I assume you fitted the cooler on too?

No bonnet lining. It's a xud7te from a 205 d-turbo. Mounted the intercooler myself. Not too much extra fuel so can't really figure out the lack of boost after getting warm.

get the bonnet lining will make the world of difference as it will

a) give it a seal

b) provide a cold air feed when moving

no you can goto a scrapyard and find a turbo diesel 306 and just take the lining out of the bonnet

Can't put the lining back because of the hole.

Ok. And about the air filters?

no in the lining cut a hole that matches the hole of your bonnet vent.

and for air filter see if you can go back to as close as stock as possible
