right when i first bought my car, after the first drive it blew a load of coolant out the over flow. first thing i thought was shit the head gaskets gone. this was 3 months ago and its definately not the head gasket! done a oil change since. yesterday i parked it up and again it dropped a load of coolant out of the radiator overflow. checked oil and its as clean as the day it went in, checked the coolant and it hasnt pressurised the expansion tank, no hard hoses, no oil or smell of petrol in the coolant. what the hell!?!?
only thing i can think of is its a bit of a bastard to get the rad cap on and off. im assuming the rad cap completely seals when on and doesnt let pressure/vapour past?

There is meant to be a pressure spring thing in the rad cap which lets coolant escape at a set pressure isn't there?

its basically a brand new cap. think the bit on the rad that it clips to is a bit fooked though!

exactly. tbh it sounds bad because of my blowing exhaust but ive never seen a 306 engine that is as clean as this one so cant understand it....well except for the oil leak at the back!
if it is the engine, not too fussed. Its only got to last me a year and then its gone

follow the pipes, make sure they're all warming up and you havnt got a block somewhere along the route creating a pressure.
Also, on the expansion tank, make sure its not brimmed each time; give enough space for the water to flow etc.
Just chucking some more into the pot... GL

1.8 with XSi head, standalone management and a snail for good measure?
Back on topic, what condition is the rad in?
Disclaimer: The above is not to be taken to heart and is probably a joke, grow up you big girl.

Rad is the original but there's no damage to it.

Weird.
There should be plenty of room for a snail where the battery / ECU is located, the most costly parts being the exhaust manifold / turbo flange. Would've thought a GTi6 inlet manifold would hold boost well though, as they are virtually a log style inlet manifold which most aftermarket items are based on!
Wish I had the space to build one. I will have to go down to Surrey and pretend to help instead.

Mid boost. Stand alone with the throttle bodie in the correct place. And a decomp. Lookinf for around 290-320 bhp (this is end of next year though) so no it wont be

Well its technicaly still a 6 then so i will let you off what ever your doing chuck the 6 box on it i would imagine the short ratio on a powerful 1.8 would be pretty interesting

havent decided on the box yet. 1st and 2nd on the 6 box is stupidly long. the 1.8 box was nice and short throughout all gears but could be a bit too short for my liking with 150bhp more than they were designed for.
