Possible pump problem!
#1
Modifications
9mm pump
Solid gov
Lda mods
T25
Defiltered
Dewastegate around 30psi

Currently running veg. on a run put the foot flat to floor in 3rd the car hesitated rattled from the pump bogged a tad then caught up with itself took the car upto 4-5k hitting 30ish boost next thing it's like the turbo sucked something or fuel got restricted or poped a pipe As I lost all boost and power. The car still ran fine idled fine and drove fine except billowing smoke out. I could here the turbo still running with a slight whine which was there before. Limped the car home under 3k no foot flat action due to smoke obviously was slow and assumed that was what driving a nad was like. Got home no boost leaks no poped hoses still no boost. Took car for a quick run took it to 3k foot flat pummeled smoke then bogged out to point of stalling. anything over 3k with more than a quarter throttle its just bogs and rattles like mad. I'm suspecting that possible the pump has been starved and maybe stuck a vane? But why no sign of boost?

Things checked are timing
Boost pipes
Actuator arm
Fuel filter
Pickup strainer was checked less than a week ago and clear

Any ideas would be appreciate
Cheers

Sounds like the turbo has shit itself, If there is plenty of smoke you would think there is plenty of fuel getting in and out. But there is no boost....

Turbo seems to still spin and no previous pre warning of failure like the others have the last t25 scored its own housing and made a horrid metallic sound with a loud whine. Nothing on this one. The smoke is the usual grey smoke on veg just loads of it

But why would it bog the pump out to point of stalling when going over 1/4 throttle

You could have a stuck vane tbh... if you have no pump pressure, it will be horrendously retarded, and even at idle the pumps make 50psi of pressure.. without that its running 6 degrees in retard.

If it s a seized vane what are chances of it being freed again with a pump strip down? Or is it just new pump time?

Have to wonder why its loosing pump pressure, it wouldn't have seized, but could have a piece of shit in it causing vanes to not seal, or worse could have scored the body. The only thing that makes me suggest its pump is that you say your turbo sounds fine though, so get your hand down the back and check your turbo isn't seized or anything stupid, then go from there. Where is your fuel filter located? has it been changed recently? any tiny piece of foreign body between the vane and pump body will cause pump pressure to drop silly amount, but still maintain fuel input so will still run.

Just because it's billowing coal - doesn't mean it's going in at the right time...

These engines will run with the injection timing 180* out... It can billow smoke but not create any proper heat to spin the turbo.... I'm going to go with shagged pump.

Wank, like always? Big Grin
Didn't you have a spare pump you could whack on to check, or have you got rid of that one?

The fact the idle dosent return to normal straight after revving, I would suggest dodgy pump!

dodgy idle has always been there dave i made it that way adjusting splines etc the throttle arm is lent on to the pump. iv split top half and got a video of some movement within side.

video of top half split not sure its suppose to move like this always been hard to turn before

oh I think your rubber buffers are f*cked, thats a pump off strip down job.

This would have made your timing stupidly behind too....

salvagable though? as in able to use it to build a 10/11mm pump? inside is pretty clean no metal shards or metalic specs any where everything is loose and free just the movement in there!
