Had a busy first week of ownership. Got a full service including cambelt and water pump, new fuel oil and air filters, new oil, coolant and brakefluid, replaced the thermostat and spark plugs. Ive cleaned the icv and looked for air leaks but no joy. It does it at idle, have to be looking for it but its there. And it does it holing constant engine speed you can feel it misfire every few seconds or so. My code reader wont communicate. Any help would be great.

Havent got anyone local with a gti 6 and been quoted £50 each. What code reader would work on a s plate? Surely it would still store a code without pulling up the eml?

Not always. Look on eBay. The coil packs turn up cheap on there.

Ok something wierd happened tonight. Someones been at the electrics around the ignition barrel and made a right mess. The solder on the starter motor trigger wire had fell apart inside the electrical tape. Managed to get it going again though but got to sort that in the morning. thanks for the offer bud tbh id much rather get a new coil purely because its electrical and post people arent exactly careful at the best of times
