Best insuarance company...
#1
Looking for a new car and therefore hoping to take out a new policy, hopefully with one of the modified/young drivers companies, like Adrian flux, Chris Knott etc. As im getting totally pissed off with the likes of Admiral/Elephant who are charging nearly DOUBLE if you choose to pay monthly instead of anually, its just a joke....

I thought id make a list below of all the companies im trying with their quote line number and the price they quote me, which should be helpful for anybody else come renewal time. If anybody wants to suggest any other insurers which I have missed out then please say and il add them to the list/give them a call.

Adrian Flux - 08000 83 88 33
Quoted £1600

Chris Knott - 0844 576 0660 (or 01424 200477 for mobiles)
Refused to quote me because im under 21, have more than 3 points and wanted cover for a 'very high performance car' (Mazda MX5.... O.o)

Brentacre - 01792 650 933
Quoted £1849

SKY Insurance - 03303 331 250
Quoted £1342 TPFT, couldnt do Comprehensive due to my age.

I know theres some more decent ones iv missed out so remind me who they are Smile im now going to get phoning so il update quotes when I know more....

Cheers, Dan.

You know that the way to do it is get a 0% interest credit card for a year and pay your insurance in one big lump. That way you pay for the insurance for the year getting the cheaper rate but also you pay off what it cost whenever you want!

Operator: Right so youre insuring a 306 1.9 turbo diesel, T Reg?
Dan: Yep
Operator: And how many of your fingers work?
Dan: er.... Three?
Operator: Im sorry sir we can not insure you at the present time.

Haha, f*ck yuuuuuu mark! I can even type quickly/properly now aswel Big Grin lol

Sam, thats a fantastic idea which I have tried to do numerous times and I have always been declined when applying for the credit card! Apparently having no credit history means you have a bad credit rating, so f*ck knows how you are supposed to get on the ladder if nobody will lend you money to start you off... :/

Anyway, one down, many to go - first post updated! lol

Fair play mate Tongue hows you healing? but more comfortable yet?

lmao how long has the MX5 been a "very high performance" car? I didn't think that was possible with a 1.6 Tongue

I see the person you should be speaking to when he is at work (Jordan) is reading this thread...............

Also the best way to sort your credit score is to get a credit card and just buy random shit on it (like really anything) and then pay it off straight away, costs you no more than normal and builds your credit history, the hardest part is getting the card in the first place!

Having a mobile phone contract in your name and paying things like insurance monthly by direct debit also counts towards your credit history Wink

SKY Insurance.

Insured me on the Imported Roadster and the Celica for cheaper than anyone else would do it.

Here's how you play their game though,
They will likely offer you a cheaper price if you agree to take out the policy on the phone at the time of speaking. Say that you have had a similar price and then see what happens...

SKY do insurance on Jap motors (Skylines, MR2's etc.) and imports. They have been very good in the past dealing with a claim and I'm still with them now as my policy was transferred onto my Focus. Give them a bell. They do car club discounts too, so if you're going down the MX5 route tell them you are a member of MX5Nutz (even if you aren't) for a potential discount.
Disclaimer: The above is not to be taken to heart and is probably a joke, grow up you big girl.

Complete dry ra*e, has anyone else found insurance has gone up again this year? I remember it went up for me about £150 last year because of all the claims over the Winter.

Ah fair enough, I think there are companies which specialise in drivers with convictions aren't there? Not sure if they will be any better though. Flux Direct and Brentacre have given me best quotes in the past for TPFT.

Dan if you want a credit card theres a company called vanquiss bank who do a credit card called granite, its about a 35% APR and theyll start you off with a £250 credit limit then increase the limit every 4 months if you behave yourself. Ive got a terrible credit rating, nobody else would give me a loan or anything like that and they gave me a card.

Oh and Im with sky, they smashed adrian fluxes quote this year.

They have an awful reputation!
And god you must have a bad rating for 35%.
My old card was with lloyds. They started me on £1500 and that was at 14% at the time. Now put me up to £3500 and 15.5%

Your being ripped Chris!

in my history companies that claim to be good with young/convicted drivers where generally no better than anyone else.

not sure what swift cover are like on price for you, but they where very easy and cheap for me even when changing cars, all online no admin fee and done within 10 minutes, unlike a previous insurance company, I forget who now, took 2.5 hours + £65 admin to change from a P-reg d-turbo to a P-reg Dturbo!! lady gardens!

Only thing ive found kinda echo's what Joe said..

None of the "modified car companys" would even quote to insure my car, so totally useless, apparently because of my age / extent of modifications...well inst that why your a modified insurance company ??

Am currently insured by the NFU, paying 950, im 22 and its fully comp on a 250hp unlimited mods policy, not a bad price given, but was a nightmare getting the new engine delclared as they were utter retards about it, other than that though, there damn good.
