On a 19991.6, is the dipstick tube a push fit or something more complex, and does the oil need draining before replacement? grateful for any advice to this 306 newbie

So once you've got the bolts off that secure it to the head, it should just be a case of pulling it up. some of them are tight, but most fall out because the O rings have perished.
