When I had the 1.6 I had power problems where I'd go to set off at junctions it would bog down stutter till it reached a certain point and bang all power would kick back in. I tried all sorts coil packs, fuel filters, pumps ht leads, lambda etc etc in total spent couple 100 quid turned out to be the coolant temp sensor which cost a £10 iirc something to do with the ecu reading wrong temps and having wrong amount of fueling.

Apparently more common on vags but I have seen it allot on pugs doesn't flag up engine management and often doesn't flag error codes.

Check this out pretty much describes how important the sensor is!

Genuine CTS from Pug was about £18 when I got one, the one with the green plug. Adjusts fuelling depending on engine temp to help with cold starts especially. Gives similar problems to a collapsed cat of knackered lambda, tbh for the price of a genuine one i'd always fit a new one just to make sure you know it's a good'un.

Last time I looked they were 35 quid!!

Seriously worth doing though. As said make sure you get the green one. Blue one is for the gauge on the dials and brown is for the fans controller

Fark really? I bought one last year for £18 from the Pug garage next door to my parents in Blackpool. Had a few in stock too. Can't have gone up that much can it?!

@Jenk; does the temp sensor cause these issues exactly tho? I thought it caused a wandering idle?
Thats the spirit. If you tell yourself it's not tapping often enough then eventually you'll believe it.

I had that problem with the Skoda when I got it. Turned out to be a gunked up throttle body Wink

The throttle body looks pretty clean tbh Liam, and it opens/shuts smoothly without any odd resistance, so I'm pretty sure it's a sensor issue...

So is this the one I'll need; http://www.eurocarparts.com/ecp/c/Peugeo...86e&000572

Or is it worth sucking it up and going for a genuine pug one?

If you do decide to clean it out mate, make sure you get a new gasket. I didn't, and it caused 9mpg until I sorted it lol

Ed, you can check if the CTS is working properly with a multi meter in about 5 seconds. Worth it before shelling out even if it isn't much. I didn't bother taking mine out of the engine but just checked it when the engine was cold and when up to temperature.

lol I spoke to my mate the service manager at broadbridge heath peugeot (he runs a tarmac rally 205; hero!)

TPS: £129.87+VAT
CTS: £13.29 + VAT
MAP sensor: £42.71 + VAT

Looks like I'm gonna try the multimeter, then the tps & map sensors and finally something a little birdy told me today it could be; cam timing...

Fooby do you even know what cam timing is? In fact, do you even know if your car has a cam(s)?

Actually Fooby, I think you'll find it's spelt 'Pedantic'

RIGHT, update!

I. Am. A. Tool.

So I got home early from work so decided to have a fiddle with the car...

Thought I'd go pull the map sensor off and see if I could clean it at all. When I removed this, it looked fine. Well actually it looked a lot like th sort of component that wouldn't respond well to being doused in WD40. So I put it back.

I then thought "I wonder what this TPS looks like; if I can prod it a bit and feel if anything's wrong...."

This thought was quickly followed by "Hmmm that White plug looks a lot like it should go somewhere.... and I've just felt where...." (Giggidy)

When fitting the ptfe inlet gashkit @ Grants the other day, I'd been rushed (this is my excuse, I'm sticking to it) to put it back together to move the car out the way. And in the rush, I'd forgotten to plug it back in.... Doh

Which explains Grant why my car was so Jerky the other day when we went out for a drive. I thought it was just I wasn't used to it, but it wasn't actually running right at all!
